Flu Scare to influence crowds this weekend?

We are heading down to San Diego and then Disneyland this week. I'm not terribly concerned about the whole flu thing but I'm wondering whether the hype about it might influence the crowds this weekend at DLR. I'm thinking some percentage of the locals will take a pass on going to such a crowded place? I'm just hoping the parks don't get shut down or anything - whether forcefully or just do to plain lack of attendance. :scared1:

Our back up plan will be to go hang out on the beaches I guess!

I doubt the parks will get shut down.

And I don't think it will have much impact on the crowds at all. Especially for locals. The band playing this weekend at the Tomorrowland Terrace is pretty popular and have a huge following. So I am sure the fans will come out. As a matter of fact, I am planning on heading over to see them. I think the crowds will be what we would normally see on this weekend.

Believe it or not I'll actually be very happy if/when this is the case. I feel badly when folks live in fear and I like DLR to be a happy and bustling place. :thumbsup2 Oh and that's good to know about the band - I'll keep that in mind.

I'm a local and at this point the swine flu will not keep me away. If a lot of people start dropping dead from it in this area then I might rethink going to any crowded areas for a while.

ummmmm please do not go to the parks when I go :lmao::lmao::lmao: Im sure there are some who will stay away, but the parks have been so busy that the impact will not be felt Im sure. but darn, in August if you scared folks are worried I will be there on the 19th thru the 26th so stay home :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

back from DLR and it was packed. Over an hour for a demonstration on chocolate, half hour for Toy Story at 2 pm, lines were getting long and it was a bit packed in places. Flu schmoo nobody is going to stop going to parks unless they panic.

we just came back this afternoon and monday and tuesday was packed, 25 minute wait for autopia at 1130 am this morning. and the fast passes are not on, at least not for autopia or buzz. . . didn't notice the wait for buzz today, yesterday was a pretty long wait, i think it was 25 minutes there as well. the fast passes were on for roger rabbit though. . . lots and lots of BIG groups today. . . at least that is what we kept running into. . .

oh and the tram. . . this morning we waited three trams before we caught one. and of course once you get locked in they started loading from both sides of the tram q. . GRRRR. . . so keep that in mind, when it starts to get backed up they suddenly without warning start loading from both sides.

What is with all the crowds at Disneyland? I recall this time of year- right after spring break and before Memorial Day- being pretty slow at the parks. I was planning on going this Thursday but if it's a packed house, I may reconsider. :(

I would think that's how many locals will behave. As long as US cases remain relatively rare and mild (as I hope and pray they will), I don't think there will be much, or any, effect on Disneyland attendance.

If I had a trip scheduled right now I would definitely go, but I would bring and use hand sanitizer. (Someone said NPR said that hand sanitizer doesn't kill flu viruses but the Mayo Clinic website says it does...it's worth a try regardless, IMO. ;) )

Most doctors who have been interviewed about this in the last few days said use hand sanitizer as well...Regardless..it can't hurt..and..it just may prevent an illness..even if it is just the common cold..

The parks are empty right now anyway, regardless of this media-driven scare tactic.

So enjoy the light crowds!

my friend text me last night concerning the flu and said he went to the doctors and he gave him some ..oinkment

me thinks hes fibbing :lmao:

he tried to tell me ... he told the doc he had came out in rashers :lmao:

No need to ham it up...but I guess I'm egging you on. Seriously, this is too much of a tragedy to joke about. If my husband caught it and fell ill, who would bring home the bacon? :upsidedow
