Day 8 - Saturday, May 8th

Departure day........ :sad2:

Really, I don't know what I want to do this day! Our flight leaves at 3:15, so ME pick up will probably be around 12:00/12:30, so it's a tricky time. Too late to just sit around, but too early to really go do anything. Here are the options that I am kicking around - please let me know your opinions, because I'm having a hard time making a decision!

Option #1: Epcot has EMHs the night before, we could stay late and then sleep in. Wake up, pack our bags, take a walk around the resort, have lunch at Pepper Market and then catch our bus.

Option #2: Still involves staying at the resort, but not doing EMHs on Friday night. Getting up, maybe enjoying the pool for awhile, then shower, pack, have lunch, catch ME.

Option #3: Pack the day before, get to bed at a decent hour and get up early and go to a park for a little while in the morning. DHS has morning EMHs, so we could get about 3 hours in there, or 2 hours anywhere else.

Option #4: Pack the day before and go to DTD for a couple of hours that last morning. Not sure that I like this idea though, I don't want to carry on a bunch of purchases. OR, I just had another idea  we could maybe do the hot air balloon, does anyone know what time it opens? If we go to DTD, we might be able to grab EoS to go.......

Now, I feel like I'm rambling! Any thoughts????

I like the idea of the balloon ride or a few hours at a park. Maybe a couple of hours at Magic Kingdom riding your favorites?

I like either of the two options of you staying at the resort or the DTD option. We ended up going there on our last morning for the very same reason-ME was picking us up at 1:30. We didn't buy much because we knew that it had to fit in our backpack carry-ons but the stores were so much easier to manuever when they weren't so crowded. I got to see things I've never seen before because it's always been so crowded when we were there. It was windy that day so I can't answer about the balloon because it wasn't going up at all. I intended to get EoS to go for lunch but wasn't hungry when we left. We ended up grabbing something from WL when we went back to get our bags and wait for the bus.

Of course, you can always go to a park. Can't go wrong with that! Did I actually help at all??...me thinks not!;)

I like Option #1 or #3.

I like #3 because you get to go to a park again! :)

I like #1 because you get to sleep in (glorious!), have a relaxing morning, and enjoy lunch before heading home.

#1 is my first choice. :thumbsup2

Hmm, that's a hard one. Our flight leaves at 2, so we are going to have a 9:00 breakfast at Ohana and maybe look around the Poly a little bit. Is there a resort your mom would want to see? Maybe you could have breakfast at one of them (even just CS) and explore.

Besides that, I would probably do the pool option, because I just don't think I personally would enjoy a park as much being on so much of a time crunch. But that is just me. DTD would be fun, but you're right about carrying on purchases. Does your mom have a preference?

I do LOVE ending a trip with one final stroll down Main Street! :cloud9:

No, Stacy, I think you said all the same things that I did :lmao: That's the problem, I can find positives and negatives with all 4 options! It might be easiest to just leave all options open and just see what we feel like doing that day. Who knows, I may have exhausted Mom by that point and she might not feel like stepping foot outside of our room until we have to leave

Sleeping in sounds good in theory, I just don't know that I'd be able to. I'm not a good sleeper anyway, if I sleep past 6:30/7:00 then I've really done something. It's even worse when I'm on vacation and in a strange bed. It is a very nice thought though - maybe it could work......

We will have already been to AKL, the Grand Floridian and the Poly. Maybe one of the Boardwalk hotels? Then we could look around the Boardwalk area as well. Great, I think you've just given me another option

We talked about it briefly a few weeks ago, but didn't really decide on anything. I'm trying not to quiz her too much, remember I'm attempting to not show her my 'cruise director' side. Speaking of, have you packed your clipboard and whistle yet? ;)

Or I could be a really nice mom and take them home to my children.......

Who am I kidding - they wouldn't make it home! :rotfl2:

You weren't fooling me with that. If you are anything like me, I know any treats for the boys will need to be packed in the checked luggage. :lmao:

If I had the option, I would go to MK again just because there are more things to ride early in the morning with less wait. DHS has more shows that requires more planning. Of course, leaving MK after only a few hours might be difficult too! I'd hold on to a lamppost and refuse to leave.

Yep, they will have to be out of sight, to be out of mind. Jared's only request has been that I bring him some gummies from Germany, those won't be too tempting for me, so it's a good choice!

Can you just see me, clinging to the flag pole on Main Street, screaming 'YOU CAN'T MAKE ME LEAVE!!!!' :lmao::lmao::lmao:

HAHA! :rotfl:

But then you'd realize that the WORLD NEEDS YOUR TRIP REPORT! And then you'd come to your senses and head on home to share your trip with us :goodvibes

Wow - your May 7th plans sound amazing! A perfect day in WDW!!!

We are tenatively scheduled to see Davey Jones that day too. Aiming for the 7:45pm show. Maybe we will see you there!

I am so excited about the possibility of meeting Dissers in the parks this trip! Despite wearing lime green mickey heads on past trips, I have never had a Dis sighting in the Parks. In fact, I only met one Disser IRL before, but that was in LA, and no where near a Disney theme park!

I am so excited about Cinco de Mayo!!!

I like the idea of a nice leisurely breakfast and exploring a resort. It would be fun to squeeze in some rides, but I would be too worried about getting back in time.

Frankly, I would make this a last minute decision.

IF you are feeling up to late night EMH on Fri, stay and plan to sleep in on Sat. If instead you make it an earlier night than planned, get up and hit a park in the morning (which ever one you feel like you missed things at but DHS EMH is tempting in this case)

I'm not certain but during our 2008 trip I thought DTD didn't open until 10 or so. Even if the balloon starts right away, that may be pushing it too close (for my taste at least) and it is pretty dependant on weather conditions, I would hate to plan to spend your last morning this way then not be able to do it and regret not just going to a park instead

Be sure to let me know however if you decide to cling to the flagpole at MK because I WILL come and take your picture!!

Hey girl! Sorry I've been MIA! I'm not tooo sure what to do your last day but all of your ideas sound great. The part about carrying around purchases at DTD does kind of sound like a hassle. I'm liking the plan of hanging out at your resort and hitting up the evening EMH the night before! Let us know what you decide!

I will be at the MK on Saturday...cameras at the ready. I will walk up and down Main Street around 11 waiting for this photo op of you clinging to the light post. :rotfl:

And yes, my clipboard and whistle are ready to go! :thumbsup2

Coming to my senses might take awhile, but I'm sure it would happen eventually :rolleyes1

We'll have to go to the earlier show, our dinner ADR is for 7:55. I think it will be so much fun meeting other DISers as well! I've actually met a few, one was just a chance meeting in line for ToT, the other meetings were all pre-planned. I was in the same park as Happydog & Wigd numerous times in December and we never bummed into each other!

I like the idea of a nice leisurely breakfast and exploring a resort. It would be fun to squeeze in some rides, but I would be too worried about getting back in time.

I've gone to a park several times before on our departure day, and never really had any trouble getting back in time for ME, but it does seem like maybe this flight is a little earlier than I've booked in the past. I don't know, I think I may be leaning towards a couple of hours at MK......

Frankly, I would make this a last minute decision.

Making it a last minute decision may very well be the best way to go. You never know how you are going to be feeling after a week of park touring!

You know, I think you are right about DTDs opening time, that would make sense because I remember the boats at POFQ didn't start running to DTD until 10:00. Definitely wouldn't be worth it to head over there for just an hour!

I bet you'd come take a pic of me clinging to the flagpole! Now I kinda want to do it just as a joke...... :rolleyes1

I think the DTD idea is probably out anyway, if Katie is right, and I think she is, it doesn't open until 10:00 anyway. That really doesn't give us much time. I'm going to talk to Mom about it this week and she what she thinks!

I will be at the MK on Saturday...cameras at the ready. I will walk up and down Main Street around 11 waiting for this photo op of you clinging to the light post. :rotfl:

And, I'll be on the lookout for drill sergeant Kayce! :thumbsup2
