Can anyone tell me why kinds of things I have to be careful about bringing home? I understand you can buy various plants and topiaries at the festival. I just need to understand the rules at customs so I won't buy something that isn't allowed to cross over with me.

You may have to get a direct answer from CBSA on a specific item you want to bring back. The list is long and changes (http://www.beaware.gc.ca/english/brirape.shtml) periodically. But, garden plants, flowers and seeds all have some restrictions on what is allowed and what isn't.

When we were there last Spring each kiosk that sold anything live had a list of who could bring what where. I was looking at some type of large flower (can't remember now) and the woman from the booth was showing me a laminated sheet of the laws for Canada (other countries were listed as well). I also saw the sheet where they were selling Bonsai:)

Oh...ok...that's really helpful. I know for sure I'd love to bring a little of Disney home. I don't want it to end up in the trash.

I didn't see any sort of rule sheet when at was there for F&G a couple years ago... I just assumed no live plants could be brought home. Is that true? I really wanted one if the bonsai trees? :(

I can definitely remember looking at the list last May. And my wife saw it in 2010. The one I saw was hanging on one of the posts in the little shop.

I do remember the one lady brought out the list when I started saying that I didn't know if I could bring it home.
Definitely ask them because they will want to sell to you if they can, so they'll have an idea if their product can be transported and should have the list.:)
