My husband and I are taking our 18 month old on DCL next week. He doesn't typically go to daycare, but interacts great with other children. I was wondering how everyone else's little ones did? Do you think it is a good idea? :confused3

our DS had just turned 2 when we went. (he was actually 2 & 2 months, to be specific) he did not go to daycare, went to grandma, so he was used to being with someone else besides us, and the "dropping you off, mommy has to say good-bye, will come pick you up after naptime (or whatever it was) routine". i thought he might not want to stay, since we've never left him anywhere, except w/grandma. and you all know, grandmas are so much more comforting than some strangers!

anyways, he did fine. we only left him for 2 hours each time, 2x on our entire trip. (once for palo dinner, once for palo brunch!) when we went back to pick him up, he ran right to us, and was very emotional about seeing us! i guess he missed us!

here's what we did..."talked up the club/nursery". our DS4 had to stay at the club, and our youngest at the nursery, so every now & then, (before our cruise) we'd remind them that they'd need to stay there, while mommy & daddy goes to the adult restaurant. they had questions, we answered them, we watched the dvd, looked at the club/nursery part, showed how fun it looks, looked at palo sections, that's where we will be, browsed through the dcl brouchure, etc. etc. and when we were on the ship, we brought them to palo (right outside) to show where exactly we will be.

and they also give you pagers so if anything goes wrong, (not that it would!) they'd just page you. just be sure to let them (CMs) know what your plans are...like if you're off the ship (for excursions?), doing spa treatments, dinner, etc. just so they know!

i'm sure your baby will do fine. i think as parents, we worry more! (i know that's the case with me!!) good luck! and have a great time! :flower:

If next week means the June 4-11th then my DS-3 will be joining your toddler @ Flounder's. I think it is great they have a special place for the littlest cruisers.

My dd did flounders on our last cruise. I was worried because she didn't go to daycare or preschool. She was almost 3 years old but wasn't potty trained. Anyways, I really thought she'd be bored. Boy was I wrong. She liked going there. She even got her very own visit with Cinderella. She got to do arts & crafts. She really thought it was her own club. She had a great time there. She only went 3 times for about 3 hours each time.

I'm sure your kid will be fine there... Don't worry too much..
