What kind of vest do they give you at Cataway Cay to wear when snorkeling? Is it mandatory to wear one? Does it interfer with trying to swim deep down?

in the snorkeling "cove" I think the vests are mandatory - but since I haven't snorkelled there, I'm not 100% sure.

They are the standard BC (buoyancy compensator) used when diving. You inflate/deflate through a blow tube.

Check your valve, as many leak (due to wear, debris).

They are issued free.

For those of you worried about sanitation, they soak in a bleach solution between users.

You are requered to use one in the snorkeling lagoon. No other floats are allowed.

You have to wear them when snorkeling anywhere, including the family and adult beaches. If you want to snorkel in one of those areas, there are free vests available at the life guard stations.
