Florida without doing the parks

I think maybe if we'd done/were going to do a Disney Cruise we might just spend a few days relaxing at a resort rather than buying park tickets (unless we had AP's) and when we go now we don't feel the need to stay at the parks all day. I love being able to hop and just pop in for a drink or a particular ride without feeling like we've 'lost' a day.

That does seem a little extreme to do it every year, there is always new stuff or new places to try/see.

We try and go to Florida twice a year, One trip it is all out Disney the next is lets try and see what else we can find.

We went out in Jan and DD3 wore us out running round every park so this Sep we are having a "rest" trip. We are planning on going to MNSSHP but that is about it. We may book a cruise closer to the time for a couple of nights.

We love doing it this way, we have found so many brilliant things to do outside Disney, that it has meant we can return year after year and not get bored by doing just theme parks that really dont change that much when you visit each year.

I do always get a tummy turning feeling when we drive through the parking booths to visit some of the hotels for a drink/bite to eat and think ooh all those people enjoying the parks, but I think this makes our next trip something to get excited about.

If anyone had said 4 years ago that I would be doing our holidays this way (esp with a child) I think I would have rolled around laughing!!:rotfl:
