We plan on driving from Disney to Port Canaveral at the end of the month. Is the toll road the quickest/best way to get there? I was also wondering about toll prices-I am from Illinois and if you do not use an I-Pass the tolls are double the price when paying cash. Is Florida like that also or is the toll the same either way? If the tolls are less using an electronic device-will Florida accept an Illinois I-Pass? Thanks for any help and clarification!

The toll roads are the best way to get from WDW to the Port. There are cash lanes with manned toll booths along the way. I believe there are four tolls between WDW and the Port.

Your Illinois pass will not work in FL so you'll need to pay cash. There are discounts for holders of the FL Sunpass, but its only about 10-15%. If you are renting a car you'll have the option to use the rental agency's toll feature, which will cost you a daily fee plus the cost of the tolls.

Florida uses ePass and Sunpass which are not compatible with iPass or ezPass (at least, not yet).

I'm not really an expert on the actual toll amount from WDW to the Port Canaveral. I'm sure others will be along to chime in. But, we just went from WDW to MCO and the tolls were a little over $2 with Sunpass. There is a little discount using Sunpass, but I don't think the cash tolls are double.

You can purchase a Sunpass sticker transponder to use on a rental or your own vehicle for $4.95.

$4.25 if you go north on 4 then 528 all the way east

$5.00 if you go 417 to 528 (you will typically get on 417 after the Celebration toll so miss that one)

either way, half a roll of quarters will allow you to use cash exact change lanes . . .
