I saw this on the news last night and thought it might be helpful for the numerous people on the board who are thinking about a move to FL. How are the schools always seems to be one of the most asked questions.

Florida Schools Annual Report Card

ME ME in two weeks. Thank you . I will check it out.

Yeah my kids schools both got 'A's
woohoo.gif

If my children were attending public school, they would be attending 2 D schools, and one C, UNLESS they were in the gifted or arts magnet program, when they would be attending A schools. It's wonderful that there are good schools for the academically and artistically gifted, but it does tend to "strip" the neighborhood schools of their top students.

However, DH and I knew that our neighborhood schools were lacking when we purchased our home over 20 years ago, so planned accordingly.

The school I work at got an A also. So far everybody is extremely happy about the grade.

:cool1: - DD's School received and A - :cool1:
Plus
Reading • 93% of students reading at or above grade level

Math • 88% of students at or above grade level in math
•
Writing • 98% of students are meeting state standards in writing.

School I usually sub at for high school got a C and I am not surprised because of the population it has.
The elementary school I sub at is a B school and it has a very high special needs population.

My son's both went totwo different A schools last year, and now they'll be at the same A school in August. Understand why it's an A-the principal is very hands on, the PTA is quite active in getting things for the school...glad the builder we had our hearts set on had a lot across from the school!

Younger son was referred for the performing arts magnet, but I don't want to take him out of this school yet!

My school made a C again. I feel bad, because we have been steadily improving over the years. Also, the principal held a meeting near the end of the year, just to tell us that he was pretty sure we had made at least a B this time. I bet he was unpleasantly surprised. Guess he miscalculated.

Thank you for posting this. The school in the area we live got an A. That makes me feel better about starting a family...

The school DD attended last year slipped from a C to a D. I'm not at all surprised. That is one of the reasons she will be attending a private school next year.

We do not have kids yet, but the middle school here got an A and the high school got a B. They are now building a new Middle School literally in our back yard so hopefully this one will do as well as the other one in town.

Okay, here's my chance to brag:

Martin County Schools had the highest average in the state! I've been singing the praises of our schools for years, and now I can back it up.

While it's not the biggest county, it's far from the smallest. The county had 16 "A" schools, one "B" and one "C". The B and C schools both have a high migrant enrollment.

Both of my kids' schools received A's. :cool1:

Maybe next year, it will be a clean sweep for the county! :teeth:

Our schools did very well and my DD's school was an "A". Our kids had a rough year this year. Due to Charlie, we lost 8 schools and our kids were on double sessions for most of the school year. Only 3 of the 8 schools eventually opened up again.

I give these kids a lot of credit. They've been through a lot. I also give our school superintendent and school board credit for the job they did getting the kids back to school and making sure everyone who worked for the district got their paychecks.

It was a tough year, but our kids and schools came through.

Ours wasn't as bad as yours, but we lost a lot of days from the double punch of Frances & Jeanne, both of which made landfall here. We lost one elementary school for most of the year, and had construction going on in 4 others for most of the year.

I'm amazed any of the schools that were affected by the hurricanes scored as well as they did.

It really is a miracle. One of our high schools was able to open up, with portable classrooms, in April. At least the seniors were able to go to their own school for 1 month. It's a miracle when you think what this area was like on August 14, 2004.
