Does anyone know if this would work?
My grandmother lives in Florida, I live in NY. Would she be able to buy our WDW tickets for us at the Florida discount, and we could use them? (She's not coming to WDW)
Or, am I better off getting them from AAA. My father is a member. (He also is not coming)
Thanks. :confused3

Sorry, this will not work. Your grandmother can buy the ticket vouchers, but then they must be activated by the person using them. The person activating them must show proof of Florida residency (a Florida drivers license or state issued ID), and although children do not need to show proof of residency, they must be activated with an adult present who must show proof of residency. I believe that getting them from AAA is your best option, when I bought my vouchers from AAA, they did not ask to see my AAA card when I activated them.
Good Luck!

I'll second this. I have a FL resident AP and every time I go to renew, they ask for my ID with my voucher. Granted, yes, the AP is strictly for me, it's the same principle for the FL resident park passes.

Thank you both so much for this info. That confirms my beliefs. Just trying to save a few bucks.

ok,, what if the fl residents are there? We are going in August, we are a family of 4. the grandparents who live in fl will be meeting us for a few days to see their grandchild, they said they would happily go to the parks. will this work for all of us...even Universal park?

Think about. Almost everyone has a relative, friend or friend of a friend/relative that lives in FL. FL resident tickets are to be USED by FL residents not just bought by them. Disney check photo ID when you first use/activate the passes.

If you want to cheat Disney the grandparent can probably getaway with buying a childs ticket for the grandchild as long as the grandparent first enters the park with the child.

No, you cannot use FL resident passes unless you live in FL....period.

I cannot answer about Universal as I don't know if they offer passes at a FL resident rate.

OK already,,, I don't want to "cheat Disney" I was just hoping to save money,,,only ask a simple question you don need to accuse me of stealing!

It is always a hot topic. Noone is accusing you of stealing. They answered your question and you came back with a "but what about this" situation. To which they firmly explained Disney's policy.

True I asked a question in regards to a specific situation,,,, the prior question was if the grand's weren't going to be there. I asked about what if they were going to be along...

I was in no way trying to "cheat" disney as I was accused of. If you read the reponse from my perspective,,, it seems rather harsh.

I only asked a question which is what these board are for. I didn't expect to be "beaten" for it.

I find that the responses seem very rude!

sorry if you don't like it, but I wouldn't do that so some one.

When I got So Cal annual passes for Disneyland, I was WITH a So Cal resident, who showed proof of rsidency, but she was allowed to buy them for anyone she wanted. The gal at Disney knew we did not live in So Cal...so WE couldn't have purchased them, but our friend did (I was with her) and we had NO PROBLEM using the passes. It was awesome.

Maybe Florida is a lot different. I personally experienced this though, and it was great.

I can see by your post count that you are new and aren't aware of this "hot" topic.

This question has been answered a thousand times. The people who responded in kind accurately stated that the person who is going to use the ticket is the one who activates the pass, activating the passes requires Florida ID...so your second question was answered before you even asked it.

I cannot speak for the person who said the comment...but given you said that you were trying to "save a few bucks", it sounded like you were trying to get around the system that is in place.

The reality is--is saving a couple bucks a ticket if you are successful worth the risk of having your tickets revoked and losing your money all together?

The DIS is a very friendly place. The budget boards are very helpful at providing "Disney-legal" money saving tips....including my favorite--though I don't eat red meat--buying the double burger sandwich combo's and asking for an extra bun to get 2 sandwiches for the price of one.

Yep, Florida is a lot different. It is better to find money saving options elsewhere as most of the time--the success of a non-res getting a residents deal is near impossible and not recommended.

From my experience, they will only sell you one FL Resident pass per FL drivers liscense presented at the ticket window. My brother's girl friend had to go back to the hotel to get her liscense before they would sell her a resident pass. The other three people getting tickets all had their liscenses there but that wasn't good enough for the CM. They wouldn't take her word for it. This was a few years ago though (1995? maybe?).

Your question was fine and understandable. You won't get flames from me at all!!!!
Believe me many people are trying to save money where they can. I can understand why you would ask this question.
You didn't do anything wrong by asking the question. That's what these boards are for!!!! :grouphug:

Disney ticketing said there had to be at least 1 adult in party with FL drivers license for kids to use FL resident discounted tickets when i asked last year. FL Grandmother and FL brother were only with us one Disney Day so we bought Alamo 3 day PHP instead.

I'm glad to see that at least one person understood that I was only inquiring, not trying to put anything over on anyone.

for some reason Lisa didn't get it. I just asked about a different scenerio. Thats all. She also STILL seem to think that I wanted to "get Over". which is so untrue. If she had read all of the threads, she would have also seen that I did not ask the initial question, and I just changed the situation somewhat.

And lisa is also correct I am new to the boards so I didn't know that this was a "hot topic".

But for the most part, most of the begining responses i recieved seemed to persercute me for asking.

if they would have responded a simple no that won't work that would have been sufficient. But instead they tried to make me out to be a criminal, by going on about cheating the system, which I personally think is rude and uncalled for.

You are welcome. I hope this does not keep you from reading and posting on here. I have gotten lots of tips and help from the boards and I love being on them. It's too bad that it had to start out this way for you. :guilty:
Anyway... WELCOME..... I hope you get lots of good info and tips a long the way!!!! :wizard:

Hope I wasn't one of the ones who offended you, as my post simply told you no. My apologies if it seemed harsh, that's what I used the smilie face I did to lighten it up a bit. <<<< see...there it is again! :teeth:

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all cool and welcome to the DIS. Any more questions, just ask away.

Blessings,

Denise  :sunny:

You do have to have a FL residency, but you don't have to live in FL. We are military and retain our FL residency (with FL state issured licences) and are legally able to purchase the FL discount tickets (we are getting the play passes this summer). That may not help the OP, but since I know others lurk and might be in the same situation as us I wanted to let them know about that.
