First I want to say what a GREAT board this is and thank you to all the people who have helped so far.

My mom now wants to go to Disney with my dh, dd and me. I would love for her come and spend time with dd. She is a Florida Resident. I saw that Florida residents get a "discount" on their tickets and sometimes on hotels. How will it work for us?
We are all going to be in the same room. I guess that she would purchase her ticket separate from our "package" but can we get the hotel discount also b/c she will in the room with us? or because it is "our package" and we are not Florida residents, there is no discount. [ I currently live in New York due to DH's job, but I was a Floridian before he made me live in Antarctica :( I know that this does not matter when it comes to purchasing Disney Tickets]

Any suggestions would help. .

Also, is it worth the money to purchase Trip Insurance?

As far as your Mom applying a FL resident discount to the room that is possible but if you are wanting to add the DDP to your "package" it isn't possible. Your Mom can get a FL resident ticket but can not get one for your, your DH or your DD. The FL resident discount on rooms can be up to 40% off but only on a select number of rooms at select resorts - not all of the resorts offer a FL res. rate during any given time frame. If your Mom were to get a FL res. discount on a room she would be the one that would need to check in and provide proof of residency at time of check-in.

What you might want to do is to see how much it would be (I'm assuming that since you said "package" that includes theme park tickets, DDP and room) getting her to get the room (with the FL Res. discount), the cost of your tickets and how much you think you'd spend on dining per day to see which way you come out on top.

HTH.

Thank you for the suggestions. My mom now wants to buy her ticket at Ye-hew junction :) on her drive up from Fort lauderdale.
Ye-haw junction is a place near Orlando that "specializes" in shopping and discount tickets.

We have time to decide how to work everything out. I was just wondering how it would work since she is a resident.

Thanx again.
