Florida Resident Seasonal Pass?

We are headed to WDW in Feb/March and my parents and grandma are coming too. They own second homes in FL and live there about 1/2 the year. From what I'm reading they would be eligible for the Florida Resident passes and discounts since they own homes in FL which they have utility bills for etc and live there part of the year even though their Driver's licenses are still MI. We booked our rooms with a cast member discount from friends and added the dining plans but no tickets yet. We will be 9 days in the parks so it looks like the seasonal pass is by far the best deal for them. They probably won't use it a lot more but it's already a savings for them. They have company coming down at the end of January who might want to go to MK for a day so they would use it then as well. We are going to want to purchase them ahead so that we can link them to the MDE for FP+ at 60 days which will be before they would go in January. It looks like there is an option to buy them ahead online. How does that work? I know they have to show their proof of residency. Will they need to go over and pick them up before we can link them to our MDE? Can they purchase them online, link them, and then pick them up when they go in January for their first use? And my grandma will probably not go in January with them to the park. I'm going to need to walk them through it so any help about what is the best and easiest way for them to do it would be great or point me to a thread that has the answers. My mom and grandma will head down in early October but my dad might not go down until November or even until January.

Proof of a Florida residential address is required.

For Florida resident tickets, the persons who will use the adult tickets must be Florida residents and must be present at the time of ticket pick up.

For each room or package reservation, the adult who booked the reservation must be a Florida resident and must be present at check-in.

For each room or package reservation and for each adult ticket purchased, you may provide any of the following:

• Valid Florida driver's license
• Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
• Valid Florida-based military ID

If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each room or package reservation and for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

• Monthly mortgage statement
• Florida vehicle registration or title
• Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
• Automobile insurance policy or bill
• Utility bill
• Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
• Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency

Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not.


So, yes, in theory, an ID from another state along with at least one of the other documents should be enough. Fair warning: other DIS-ers have reported having resistance from the CMs when showing a DL from another state, even when they have the other documents.

You can buy them online and you'll get a voucher for the SAP. However, it used to be that if the credit card billing address was not Florida, the system would not let you buy FL Resident tickets. I haven't seen anything about that recently, either way, but it's a possibility. Once the vouchers are purchased, they can be loaded into MDE along with the resort reservation and they'll be able to make FP+ reservations. Once they arrive at WDW, the tickets will have to be validated with the ID at Guest Relations before they can use them.

It's true that many people own homes in FL while they keep their DLs in other states. That's not a requirement. However, you will need a few current docs to prove it. I had a FL DL, but my husband hadn't gotten his yet. He used our Verizon utility bill and I think we had our homeowner's insurance. Both in our name and showing the matching address.

We went straight to AP vs SP because we go all yr long, wanted free parking and no block out dates. Getting the FLR rate has been my dream for decades! I hope you can take advantage of it too! Also, only FLR can break the payments up, which we love. We pay $37 per month for unlimited hopping, no block outs, and free parking plus other discounts. That's less than HALF the price for a single non hopper ticket for one day! (We get unlimited for one month for that!) I think SP is $19 a month, but does have block outs. Check those out carefully, they may put a damper on your plans...

Thanks for the replies. I already looked at the blackout dates and our dates are good. So is the date that their guests are coming down in Jan. They will have been down there for several months by January so current bills won't be an issue either. I doubt that they will go at all other than those two times and they are back here in MI by mid-April through October anyway so I think the SP probably makes the most sense for them but I need to ask my brother about his plans for next Christmas as he talked about going at least one day when we all go down for Christmas if so it would probably be during the blackout and I would need to run the numbers for them. I also have a friend whose husband recently took a job as Disney and she has offered discounts on room which we are doing for Feb and tickets so I have to take that into account too. I know that the SP is a much better deal for them for our 9 day trip but if we are talking 1 or 2 days over Christmas too, that might change to the AP being a better deal. If it's more than 1 day at Christmas we might just get APs ourselves and find a way to squeeze in another short trip another time too.
