Florida Resident Seasonal Pass Questions

We're a Florida resident family planning a 10-night trip in late August 2015. We're doing a split stay, 5-nights each at the Poly and YC. We got a great deal ($223.88 and $213.88 per night including taxes respectively) on the resorts through an agency who cannot be named. We were planning on buying the agency's 8-day non-park hopper for $320.14 per person including taxes that includes 1-day at a waterpark. But since we're Florida residents we've been looking more and more at Florida resident annual passes, specifically the Seasonal Pass at $339.74 per person before taxes. But I have questions...

  1. We're currently getting MagicBands and will be making our FP+ choices at 60 days out. Will we still get MagicBands and can we make FP+ selections at 60 days with the AP?
  2. Do we have to be at the park to get and activate our APs or can I do that online when I purchase them?
  3. Will our APs be on the MagicBand or will we have hard tickets?
  4. When does the AP expire? At the end of 2015 or 365 days from first use?
  5. Does the clock start when we purchase the AP or upon first park entry?

I think that's it for now. Thanks in advance for any help!

1. I don't answer questions about Fast Passes.
2. Any type of AP and/or Resident Tickets can only be activated at a Park (including water parks, TTC or DTD) Ticket or Guest Relations window.
3. Yes to both. It will be on the MB but you will need the hard ticket to get discounts.
4 & 5. Neither. It will be the same date next year as the date of activation. If it is activated on February 1 it may last be used February 1 next year.
6. Note that a non-hopping ticket which includes one fun visit is a convention ticket and may have special restrictions. If you are not registered for a convention the agency is cheating Disney and I would strongly suspect their other degrees of honesty.

I am an ap holder and as long as you have a resort reservation you can make FP selections 60 days in advance, if you are just going for a day trip or staying off site you can make FP selections 30 days in advance. You can only have 7 days of FP which Im hoping Disney will change soon!

The AP FAQ contains this statement:
As a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder, you can plan 7 days of FastPass+ selections within any 30-day period—for 1 park per day. You can make your selections up to 30 days in advance of your visit, and if you change your mind, you are able to modify your selections.

If you are a Passholder who is staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can make your FastPass+ selections up to 60 days prior to check-in—for the entire length of your hotel stay.

Since our split stay has one 5-night reservation at Poly and a second 5-night reservation at YC can we book 5 days of FP+ at 60 days out from the Poly reservation and 5 more days of FP+ at 60 days out from the YC reservation?

Yes, that's exactly it.

For what it's worth, the seasonal pass in our opinion is a great idea! Since we also live in Florida, hubby is more likely to spring for multiple quick trips if we've already paid for the tickets. He likes to get his money's worth lol

Have fun planning!

Thanks - the seasonal AP seems like a great deal. I am sure we could squeeze in a few additional trips. It's only 3 hours from our driveway to the WDW main gate.

About three hours away and in the swfl location.. Sounds like right around Lee County :)

I definitely recommend the Florida resident annual pass. Keep an eye out for the blackout dates though if doing the seasonal pass instead of the annual

Since you can only book 7 days in a 30 day window, definitely do your MK days first. Then HS, Epcot and finally AK. You can't activate your SP online because you have to present proof of Florida residency. Also once you get home after activating SP you can go on your MDE and order your SP MagicBand. You'll get a slider saying passholder 2015 and a discount card. You'll always need to carry your SP to get discount but well worth it!

I was thinking the same thing or maybe Collier. On a good day hubby can make it to Disney pretty fast LOL

Lee County, Cape Coral to be exact. I love the route up US 17.
