This is my first time officially planning everything out financially for this vacation, so I apologize in advance if I sound a bit naive. My question is should I wait to book our Disney Trip, or should I book the hotel room now with a deposit, and if I need to cancel later - do so? We plan to travel early February.

We typically travel and take advantage of the "Discover Disney" ticket deals, however I noticed this year they aren't out yet, and may not be pushed out until January if they do. I'm concerned as our budget is pretty tight, and while the hotel room is below our expected cost, if the tickets remains the same, we will be going over our budget, which I don't really want to do.

Please ignore signature as I can't figure out yet how to change it :/

If you're getting a Florida Resident rate on the room, then you should call and book it because they sell out. If the resident rates haven't been released yet (I'm also a FL resident and got an email today, but it seems like the dates were through Dec), then as soon as they're released (watch the DIS!), call to see if you can get the discount applied. It never hurts to book now - if a discount becomes available, you may be able to apply it to your existing reservation (or upgrade to a better resort or view for the same amount).

If you make a room-only reservation, you can book now and pay only the first night's stay as your deposit, and it will be fully refundable up to 5 days before your stay. The balance on a room-only reservation is not due until you check in.

If memory serves, they haven't released the Florida Resident spring ticket discounts until early January the last couple of years.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, ask! :)

I am hoping on Florida Resident rates and the Discover Disney ticket as well. I have booked a room only reservation with my Visa discount and then plan to try to have a better discount applied when the Florida resident rates come out. I am going either way, so I figure I have secured my room and if I can get additional discounts then great!

If your room is currently below expected cost, book it. If more discounts come out later then you can have them applied.

According to MouseSavers, Claire&TheBoys is correct. They haven't been announced until January in the past. If you haven't checked out the Mousesaver's chart in the past, here is a link:
