My friend bought the 3 day play pass for Florida residents and decided she wants to upgrade to an annual pass. She still has 2 days left on her ticket. I know in the past, that Disney allowed the cost of the 3 day play pass to be used towards an upgrade for an annual pass. Do they still allow this?
My friend called WDW today and asked and they told her to go to Member Services the next time she visits the park and they will tell her whether she can or cannot.
Anyone with recent experience with this? :goodvibes

I do know for a fact that you can upgrade your ticket and they will subtract the amount you paid for the original ticket from the upgrade.

However...and I could be wrong about this...but I BELIEVE you have to upgrade your ticket within 30 days of purchasing the original ticket. Not 100% sure about that though.

I think it works like this.

Ex (just made up probable costs and dates)
She paid $120 for play for 3 days ticket on June 1st, 2006
She wants to upgrade to a FL Res Annual pass for $340 on July 1, 2006.
I believe she will only have to pay $340-$120 = $220, but the Annual pass will expire on June 1st, 2006, not on the day the pass was upgraded.

I guess in the past they would let you prorate the cost of the annual pass... in this example she would have only had to pay 11/12 of the annual pass cost because theoretically she will only have the annual pass for 11 months of the year.

Also, i'm not sure on the exact time period you can update, but I think with the 3 day pass you have until your pass expires at least. I got the play for 4 days pass a few times in the past and the CM said you can upgrade that ticket anytime before the expiration date (at that time they were onyl good for 4-6 months.)

We just went through this with my sister. You have 14 days to upgrade your ticket to an AP and Disney will give you credit of the ticket towards the AP.

Thank you guys! She just bought the ticket this week and we are going tomorrow to upgrade her pass and hit Animal Kingdom. :sunny:

I actually spoke with a rep for disney about this last week because I could not get the right answer so I actually wrote the main office on this.
well they called me back and told me this.
we bought our 3 day play passes in february and used all 3 days on it.
you have up to six months from the day you use the last day on the pass to upgrade, but the annual pass ends on the date you purchased the 3 day play pass.
if you have any other questions just let me know...... :)
