My dad, who is a Florida resident, will be joining us for one day during our next visit to WDW. From my research, I found that he can get a 1 day ticket at a 10% discount if bought in advance. What does that mean? Where does he buy it in advance? Can I buy the ticket for him at the hotel and then he shows his proof of residency at gate or does he have to be with me to buy the ticket? Thanks

We always get our tickets either online, or at the Disney Store. At the Disney Store you buy a voucher, then turn it in at customer relations, or maybe the gate. There are 2 choices for a 1-day ticket, 1-park, or hopper. There's also a 3-day hopper. He can split those 3 days throughout the year.

I didn't think there was a discount for a 1 day ticket, we are Fl. residents and I have never heard of this... If you find out about this (where, when, legit or not) PM me and please let me know, taking DGrandfather to Epcot on 12/4.....:santa:

You can get a 10% off 1 day ticket if you are a FL resident. You just need to buy the ticket from Disney. I didn't realize you needed to buy it in advance though. If it was me, I would call Disney and buy the ticket and get a confirmation number. Bring the number to guest relations (right outside of the turnstiles) and they will print out the ticket for you.

I found the information on Mousesavers:

Discounted Magic Your Way Tickets

Florida residents can choose from several savings options on the Magic Your Way Tickets:

10% savings on a 1-Day Base Ticket, when purchased in advance: $68.05 Adult (10+), $57.51 Child (3-9), tax included. You can add the Park Hopper and/or Water Park Fun & More options at half the usual cost ($22.50 plus tax for Park Hopper, $25 plus tax for Water Park Fun & More) if you wish.

My problem is that I'm buying the ticket for him. I live in MA. So, I don't think that I can buy it at Disneystore. I probably could buy it at the hotel but I'm wondering if he needs to be with me when I buy the ticket to show proof of residency? He would have to meet me at the hotel and not at the park which means he would have to wake up and drive to Orlando an hour earlier. I think that it will be too early for him. I could meet him at the gate but I don't think that is buying it "in advance" thus no discount. I know it's only 10% but I'm buying a ticket for him and his wife and renting the scooter. It adds up. I need a little extra money buy him a set of ears:earsboy: :rotfl2:

You could try buying it online. On the WDW website click the FL res. button, enter his zip code, and go to the tickets section. You may be able to get a ticket, or voucher that way, and he can show proof of FL res. at the time you get to the gate.

Keep in mind that this is a wonderful deal for Florida residents. It is like buying a two days and getting the third day free. Can also be upgraded if desired. Can't quote the price right now but you can find it on Deb's site.
The weather here in Florida is wonderful right now! :)
