My son lived in Kissimmee for nearly 3 years and said that the apartment where they lived had a company come and spray once a month. He wished it had been more often! Think fire ants in the middle of the night in your bed.

So I'm wondering, how ofter do you folks who live in Florida get your house sprayed/treated? Do you have a contract with a pest control business or just call as needed. Needless to say, up here in Massachusetts, usually a can of Raid does the trick for the entire summer. Any other pointers on bug control, like companies you like or those to avoid, cost, etc., would be most appreciated.

I have a relatively large front & back yard, and I just pick up some of the bug killer the you hook up to your water hose & spray on the yard. Seems to work excellent for mosquitos, ants, and other carnivorous bugs :)

I live in a house and have once a year pest control. I can call him back as needed for free but it rarely happens that I need to do that.

We're moving to FL from MA too. We DO have pest problems here in MA though, LOL! The Raid never put a dent in all the weird bugs, mice, flying squirrels, wasps, etc. We have been our exterminator's best customers here:rolleyes: My understanding is that in FL, you need a termite service (termite bond?), and also a regular pest service. Our homeowners association does the termite control/inspection for us, but we still need to get info on what sort of a pest service to get also.

We rent, and our apartment community offers once a week pest control...you just have to let them know if you need it.

Our biggest problem has been ants...leave even a crumb on the counter and soon, a trail of ants will be their. It has been a big problem with the cats food. She never finishes it at once, and then the ants come.

Other then that, we don't have a problem.

Wow, do I feel lucky! We live in a house now but prior to this when we first came down from NJ, we lived in apt complex and rarely saw any type of bug in our apt. Every now and then, we found a weird little bug with huge antennas in our bathroom but other than that nothing. I would certainly be complaining if fire ants were in my bed or any where else near me, I HATE them!

Now we're in a house, I have my lawn treated every other month and have yet to do pest control for the house, we bought this spray that kills ants and roaches and spray about all of our entry ways. This seems to keep them under control.

We have Orkin spray outside around the house every other month.

My parents live in an attached villa. They do not spray and they do see a bug or ant every so often.

I lived down there 15 years and had a company come in monthly. Took care of everything. I just moved to another state in March. I have to say the bugs here are HUGE compared to those in FL! Mosquitoes here are dive bombers. :scared1: Spiders, ticks...I never had a tick problem in FL. That's just the beginning. LOL!
