Oh, my...we drove in it from SW Florida to Disney on Friday, tornado watches and all.
When we got to Wilderness Lodge, it was still pouring. Checked in, went over to FW and rented a golf cart for the brief hour that it stopped raining. Ate dinner (it was raining) and went back to WL. Finally the rain stopped and went out by the pool around 9 p.m. to see if we could go swimming but there was a sign up that said due to inclement weather the pool was closed. I noticed people in the hot tubs and went over there, only to have a CM show up and shoo everyone away. He wasn't too friendly, but then again, I wouldn't want his job of making sure people get out of the pool.
What was kind of amusing, though, is that as soon as he walked away from the pool (he wasn't a lifeguard) people started scurrying back into the water. He would come back and shoo them away again. I watched this off and on for about two hours from my balcony, until finally around 11 p.m. they re-opened the pool (no threat of lightning). My older son was still awake so he and I went down there for the last hour and went swimming.
Saturday was not as rainy, but there still was some and it was getting cooler. Today, (the day we left) the weather decided to turn absolutely beautiful.
That's Florida for you...but even in deluges, it is still possible to have a lot of fun at Disney. Just wait for those breaks in the rain clouds and have a poncho close at hand!
