Florida Keys in October? Place to Stay?

Hi!

I would love to hear some recommendations for the Floriday keys. I have a conference in Ft. Lauderdale at the end of the week (10/21 and 22) but coming in earlier maybe to spend a few days in the keys???

there are so many little hotels motels that I dont know what Im looking at!! The reviews just contradict each other - lol!! I did try the Blue Lantern I think it was called a few years ago and it was gross back then.

Looking for prices under 100 (less is more)...would like to snorkel by boat once and off the beaach if possible. Will probably go to Bahia Honda at least once.
