I would love to go to the swamp and watch the Gators play a game on Nov 21 vs Florida Atlantic (I think). We would fly down on Friday and come home on Monday. It is a long way for a gfootball game but the Gators have always been my favorite team for the past 30 years. My question is taht I am looking at ticket websites and $150.00 is the norm al price per ticket. Is there a chance that scalpers will have tickets on gameday for a lower price?

Tickets are not likely to be found cheaper with a scalper on game day. If anything, they're more. Tickets around here are usually hard to come by especially if they're against a big rival.

Florida International isn't a big rival (you might be thinking of FSU), but the Swamp sells out every game so chances are tickets will be even more the day of the game. If you are going to go get your tickets in advance.

::yes::

I've been going to the Swamp since I was a kid, and I can tell you that even for the non-rival games, there are always wayy more people looking for tickets than there are selling them. Not to mention the area around the stadium is a zoo, and trying to secure tickets on top of that would be tough. I would advise getting them in advance, perhaps check on craigslist. Careful of student tickets, as usually those need a student ID to get in, and some sellers may not be forthcoming with that info...

I just got two tickets from Stubhub.com in section 6, Row 4. I would presume that they are not in the student section. In what section does the band sit? What would be a good hotel to stay at nearby or where would be the best place to park? If you would give me any other advice, I would be greatful. After cheering for the Gators from Canada for the last 30 years, I am finally going to the swamp......and taking my wife with me. Thanks for your help.

Section 6 is a great section in the Alumni side, so no worries on the student ticket thing. Thats also the Gators sideline, and sitting down low you'll be close to the action there. If you are looking at the field, the band will be seated in the northeast corner, basically across the field and to the left. There are many hotels on I-75, but they book up early for game weekends, although my guess is it wont be as big of an issue as say Tenn or FSU. I've stayed at the Best Western Gateway on the northside of town and its done the trick just fine. There are several others on the Archer Rd. exit, which is one of the roads leading toward the stadium area. If flying into MCO or TPA, you may want to consider staying in Ocala as well. Bout 20 minutes on the interstate south of Gville, but my guess is the hotel rates would be quite a bit less than Gville on game weekend. There is not much in the way of convenient public parking, but all of the houses along University Ave will sell spots from $10-$30 depending on how close to the stadium. Let me know if any other questions:thumbsup2

DeeJ696, Thanks for all the great info. Greatly appreciated!! We are flying into Orlando on the Friday and I owe my wife 2 days of shopping probally Friday and Tuesday. We will shop in Orlando on Tuesday but if I drive towards Gainsville on Friday, we will probally be there around noon. Where would you reccomend a good shopping outlet between Ocala and Gainsville and we will get a room nearby. We live approx 3 hours from Ann Arbor, Michigan so we have been to may Wolverine games and you can imagine how much flak I take for being a Gator fan.

Unfortunately there isnt really much of anything between Orlando and Ocala or Gainesville. If shopping is an objective, then Orlando is your best bet for that. If it were me, I would probably just stay in Orlando the whole time and drive to and from Gainesville on Saturday. Its 1hour 45 mins from Orlando to Gainesville tops, and in my opinion it may be a bit more hassle then its worth to stay in Gainesville, cause theres really not much else to do once the games over. This will more than likely be an afternoon game, so you could head up to Gville in the morning, and probably make it back to Orlando in by dinner if its a noon start, or 8-9 if its a 3:30. It may make for a longer day, but I think you'd be a bit bored if you stayed in G'ville Fri-Sun.

Or better yet, I wasnt planning on going to that game, but you can leave the wife in Orlando to shop, and pick me up in Ocala on your way to the game:rotfl:

Agreed. All Gators games have been sold out since the tickets became available. You just have to look at it as not being able to put a price tag to see Greatest team in NCAA history play this year! ;)

See you there!

Well I'm going to be at the game vs Tenn and I can tell you that we got 2 tickets for 500.00 each. I think that it was well worth it. But if you think that getting a ticket on game day I wouldn't hold your breath!!!

Go Gators indeed, but Im afraid you may have been taken for a ride!

I may have 2 extra, and i could not, in good conscience, sell them for that much.

But I am looking forward to Urban calling timeouts with 1 minute to go and a 50+ point lead.

I know that I paid too much, but I have tickets and that is all I care about. I am hoping that this may be the start of going to more games in the future. Since I am travelling 1,400 miles I wanted to make sure that I had tickets before the game. I just may private message you in the future if I am looking for tickets. Go Gators......All I heard this weekend was how great Michigan will be since they beat Notre Dame and how Florida will only play high school football teams. There are very few Gator fans here, just Wolverine and Ohio State fans

Have a great time! We went down for the Charleston Southern game and had a BLAST!

CHOMP!

I completely get having tickets before you go to a venue, and dont blame you at all. Hope my original post didnt come across the wrong way.

I love hearing the Big 10 schools talk. It all sounds so good until they actually play a ranked team on national tv and lose...again. Year after year.

Feel free to PM me about tickets. I normally have extra tickets for the first two games of the year, but the rivalries I ususally dont. You never know though, message me anytime.

Go Gators!

Matt if you end up with a couple extra this weekend, and need a home for them I know a guy in Ocala that will gladly take them:thumbsup2 Thats me in case you couldnt tell. My dad and I usually go to Tenn, but for some reason my mom decided she wants to go which cost me a seat. Stupid moms:lmao:

Are you sure your don't want to come to Tallahassee that weekend and watch the Seminoles? I'm sure there will be plenty of tickets available at bargain prices. :headache:

Love my 'Noles, but COME ON!!!

I guess what happens in Utah, stays in Utah...

I think that line was a "Zing!" in the "mullett wrapper" yesterday, wasn't it?
