We are going to WDW for March break next year and want to take a slightly longer trip, so we will stay the following week (into Easter week). We thought we might use our aeroplan miles take a few days at a beach and wanted some advice. Is it worth driving down to The Keys? How far is it? Are there any beaches worth visiting/staying in NorthEast Florida?

Our other choice is to stay at either the Swan or Dolphin for the weekend and stay at Hilton Head for a few days on the way back. Any thoughts.

Cheers

It looks like you are a DVC member, have you looked at Disney's Hilton Head or Vero Beach?

I just got back from a stay in the Keys last month. They are beautiful but I don't know that I'd take my children all the way down to Key West. It's very much a late-night, adult kind of place :drinking1 and not known for good beaches.

There is some construction just outside of Key Largo at the northern end, so driving time will depend on traffic. Weekends, especially late Friday afternoons are very busy. It's a 3 1/2 hour drive to Florida City at the end of the Turnpike and then another 3+ hour drive to Key West - a long drive for a few days.

If I were you I would look at the Siesta Keys area near Sarasoda . The beachs are a amazing white sand and very family friendly. Check out the vrbo.com web site for some great deals.

HHI is nice, had a great time, but we stayed there on our way to Disney for March break, the weather can be iffy in March. It was 75 the first day, but then it was mid 50's and windy the next 3 days. We did have a very nice time but I think next time I will go at a warmer time of year. The gulf side beaches are very nice, I would try them.

We always enjoy going to Fort Lauderdale and staying at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. It is a 3 hour and 15 minute drive
