I am scheduled to fly from NJ to Orlando Thursday evening and back again on Saturday morning. With Hurricane Florence hitting in the flight path, what are the odds of me being able to get to/from? My son has a soccer tournament on Sunday or else I wouldn't think twice about possible being stuck in Disney a few days!

I doubt if you will have any trouble getting BACK on Saturday. The flight down Thursday could be problematic, but it's too early to tell. If you look at the TS force winds map in the linked thread, you'll see that most of NJ is within the range of possible winds strong enough to preclude flights.

Keep watching the storm and your airline's website. If and when flights become unlikely from various airports, the airlines will issue alerts outlining your options. SWA has already issued an alert, but NJ is not covered in that one...yet.

JetBlue as well, but only up until Virginia...

The storm is suppose to hit Thru night / Fri morning. Most flights will be canceled. The airlines have begun to make plans to fly planes out of the area of the east coast by Thur afternoon. DH is a pilot and said they are planning on moving aircraft away from the path of the hurricane. This hurricane is stronger than Sandy and we all know what damage that one did.

Most of the airline have posted their travel alerts now so you can change your ticket I would do it now while there is still seats available on earlier flights.

Remember it will take the airlines a few days to get back on track once they have parked planes at other airports out of the path of the storm. They will need to schedule pilots to fly those planes back to the area's where they were taken from.

Will planes be re-routed if leaving and traveling to airports no effected but the storm in the the path usually taken?
Check your airline's website for travel alerts. Every airline is different, and all speculation by any of us here is irrelevant. Get the correct info from YOUR airline.

Thank you, I did and they have issued no alerts for either airport.
