What can we take on the Wonder to decorate our stateroom and then bring off the ship? I know they let something off anf not others. We are having a evergreen centerpiece made up and would like to take it on the Wonder and then back to the Beach Club.

Can we do this?

Steve

You could take on anything you want, but they were very clear that no plant products could be taken off the ship at Pt. Canaveral....not Disney rule but a customs and immigration rule. Even if it stayed on the ship, it is considered to be from a foreign country. I didn't try because I was told I couldn't.

Hello all,
I want to address this and will vertify again on Saturday - I had this issue come up about taking flowers off the ship - I was told BY CUSTOMS that as long as the flowers, greens etc were NOT IN ANY TYPE OF DIRT, that they could be taken off the ship - now I have understood many couldn't and then I have seen many being taken off -- again I will get in writing if I need to and post it after the Saturday run.

Oh Shirley...I hope so. I would have ordered something for the cabin, but hated the thought of throwing out stems that were still beautiful. If I can take them home, I'll be able to enjoy an arrangement next time.

I just wanted to share this with you - you can have a beautiful silk centerpiece made (Disney themed too) --have it in your cabin and not to concern yourself with watering - questions if you can take it off etc - with the silks, it will last you for some years to come with proper treatment - use it each year and remember of the first Christmas when it brighten up your cabin on your cruise.
This is just food for thoughts - also we have some awesome silks.
:D
Will let you know what I find out ok -----til then keep kool or should I say warm.
Hugsssssss from warm Florida (but not for long)

Shirley - You are 100% CORRECT, as I have done it myself a few times. On the ship I was told "no plants of any kind" could be taken off. But I walked off with my flowers that had been put on the ship in Port Canaveral, asked the Agricultural inspectors at the table as you exit if they were okay, and have ALWAYS been told "As long as they are cut flowers not in soil, no problem!"

I intend to mention this to Cruise Director Rick on my next Wonder cruise, as he always announces at the debarkation talk "no plants of any kind." A lot of people have been throwing away their beautiful flowers needlessly. I am not sure about the wreath centerpiece being asked about, but CUT FLOWERS are FINE. ;)

Shirley I know this is about flowers, but I know a couple of months back you were in discussions with DCL about placing the disney boat on a pillow case. Anything come from it?

I went and spoke to customs today about flowers, fruits etc and this was quoted to me:

All fruits except for bananas can NOT be taken off the ship - now think that one over ---I ask why bananas can be taken off and noone could come up with an answer and if there were problems to speak to someone in the Argicultural dept. and they will ok it.

Second now all flowers can be taken out - anything that does NOT have dirt within any flowers, greens, can also be taken off the ship --it was told to me that if anyone has any problems, they are to go straight to the Argicultural dept (again) and they will clear any problems.

third - I spoke to Disney about being able to make the pillowcases for my own use and I was told that I would have to pay x numbers of $$$ for a license to do so and I would have to be approved with designs etc - the cost was more that I could ever come up with so that I dropped like a hot potato, BUT I was told if anyone had one that has an applicade on it and sent to be put in a gift basket, that was acceptable - so go figure.

If there are any questions I can answer, please feel free to do so.
God bless
Always
Shirley

Thank you very much Shirley.

It looks like our centerpiece is going to be cruisin to the bahamas with us:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The reason for this somewhat complicated ruling is due to the fact what they are trying to protect is your bringing in insect and smaller(think microbiological) pests. And fruits and soil are the ways these pests survive for long periods. Don't ask me why bananas are excempt, except for the fact they tend to ferment quicker than anything else. I may know garening, but never really understood microbiology.
