Does anyone know how many inches from floor to bottom of bed?? The last time i put some of my smaller suitcases under the bed but the bigger ones i couldn't. I would like to know the exact measurements so i could bring the right ones on board and store in under the bed. Going on Repo cruise in August and need all the room i can get for 2 WEEKS and get all the suitcases out of the way!! :earsboy:

Not sure at all.. Just wanted to let you know what we did since ours did not fit...We removed the life jackets from the closet and put them under the bed, then we had more than enough room in the closet for our luggage.

I know this is a nono...but it worked for us..... :guilty:

I learned on one of the posts here for our first cruise that you may not be able to slide your suitcase under the bed. However, you can lift the end of the bed up and then slide slightly larger suitcases under. There is more room under there than the side of the bed indicates.

The bed frame is just made out of PVC and the whole frame lifted up and we slid 3 suitcases right under....large suitcases.

The DCL Passporter says there is a 9" clearance under the beds, but we managed to store our 30" pullmans which are 12" thick when empty.

Hey Everyone,
I didn't know this about the beds either so we were stuffing them in the closet.LOL
This info would be great to add to that DCL tips list. I don't know how to do that but I hope if someone does and they read this they can add it to the tip list that I have read before :flower: .

We tried to do that but the 30" was too high to fit under the bed.Even with lifting it up.

We have always been able to get ours under the bed but have always had to lift them up. I also don't think that ours are 12" deep, but close.

If you have a large hardsider you may also be able to put it under the bed by having it open. That way it won't be as tall. We have pretty large suitcases and have always been able to put them under the bed.

We also take an empty duffle bag and put that in the closet as a laundry bag. I'll either do laundry part way through the trip (like I did on the 10 day) or we just bring home the dirty clothes in that bag and it frees up more space in the hard sided luggage for new things.:)

Thanks so much for all your responses!! I knew i can count on you guys!!! :goodvibes

I didn't realize it 'till sailing #3. Don't know the exact size of out "large" suitcases, but I do know we were VERY CLOSE to our weight limit at the airport......be careful, I do believe ALL mattresses are split also. Our cat. 6 had 2 twins.

LOL! That was one of the first thing I remember reading on this board...lift up the bed frame & push the suitcases under. :) That was a couple years ago though. We have really big suitcases & while they will not slide under, they fit fine once we lift the bed up. :)

My DH told I had flipped my lid when I told him to put the large suitcases under the bed. "They won't fit under there, see!" I said "lift them up"! He asked me if I had lost my mind? I walked over lifted the bed up, told him to push the luggage under it, then I set it down. He gave me the weirdest look ever. I told him the disboards aren't too bad after all are they? He snickered at me..........."you spend way too much time on there". It helped though didn't it!

Weren't you the person who was measuring the stateroom doors for others on your last cruise?? You should have measured the height of the beds then too!!! Just messing with you Bmwdsny- I rarely see you anywhere else but the cruise meets board...Mark

LOL! I have to say that it was much easier to put the luggage under both sides in the category 8 that we had first cruise. Although I liked the bigger bed against the wall in the category 10 instead of in the middle of the room, it was much more difficult to use that half of the bed for storage.
