My DD, 12, would like a Flip Video camcorder for Christmas. Are they one of those items (like the Wii or a DS) that has a price fix and never goes on sale? I can't seem to find a sale price for one of these suckers anywhere! Just curious.

Posted question at the exact same time, wonder if we could merge threads? Will update you if I find something out.

LOVE my Flip! I got it off of Amazon- that was the best price I could find and because it was $$ enough I got free shipping. The videos in my siggie were all taken on my flip last Christmas. This is the 1st generation- not even the new HD ones that they have. I LOVE it. It's so small and was GREAT taking around the parks. I take it to every family event we have, every vaction, every everything!!! :goodvibes

My DD would also like one of these for Christmas, so I will be watching this thread for pricing tips as well. :)

The do go on sale - I got one from Amazon last summer and stuck it away for DD's Christmas. It was around $50 total. I don't know about this close to Christmas, but here's hoping. I wish I'd picked up two, cause now DS wants one also.

I bought mine on woot.com last woot - off, I paid $79.99 plus $5 ship. I got the 60 min. regular flip. They often have the 30 min. for $39.99. It's something to keep an eye on.

Mine was "recertified" - it was in all the original packaging, so I don't think they had to "fix" anything. It's different from refurbished, but I've also purchased refurbished from woot and have had no problems yet (knock on wood).

My local Target had the older black model on clearance for $78 yesterday. It was originally $150.

Walmart had a Flip bundle on its website. I think it was about $129--included camera and choice of two accessories. It had a 2 hour recording time. Look for it under value bundles.

Just checked this on online. There is one for 134 and one for 159

I just ordered one from Amazon for my 14 year old DS. I ordered the 2nd generation one that holds 120 minutes of video. I paid $123 and got 2 accessories for free and then I am doing the trial thing of Amazon Prime, so I got free shipping.

I'm really excited about this gift, because he's not asking for one and I think he will really like it. He is always using his phone to take videos.

I am trying to decide between the flip and the new Ipod Nano with video recorder. Not sure which one to get. Price for the new HD flip and the Nano seem to be about the same. Does anyone here have the Nano?

I'm looking at Flip for my daughter. Do these have audio?
Costco coupons for Nov 27,28, 29 have $30 off of Flip Ultra. I don't know how much these are at the regular price and if this is the newest, 2nd generation, HD, etc., I can't really tell by the picture.

I bought one for my 12 year old ds the other day at Target. Marked down to $75, but it was the last one, the floor model. I was going to buy it anyway, but I asked the guy if he could do any better since it was the floor model. He sold it to me for $51! I was looking for an additional 10% off but ok....

Yes, they have audio. I have had mine for almost 2 years and I absolutely love it. It is great for situation where there is low lighting. I got mine on a QVC deal with their flex pay program. I think I paid about 40 bucks for 3 months. It was something like that.

And these are HUGE. Our tech guy uses them to video tape things to post on TV...he said they are broadcast quality.
Get the Flip; HD isn't necessary for most of us.
Gotta run to Target & see if I can get lucky!!!

I got my Flip from Staples back in September. It was originally $149, marked down to $129 with a $25 coupon. With tax (free shipping as a Staples Rewards member) it came to just under $115. It's the Ultra model with 120 minutes of video. Best thing I've bought in awhile. I'm a journalism major and I bought it specifically for one class (so that I didn't have to check out the ones from the School of Comm EVERY time I needed to go do an interview) but I've used it countless times over the course of this semester already.
