Flip Camcorder

I really want to get the Kodak Playsport for our upcoming trip to the lake, but have few questions for those that own one. How long is the battery life, can you get at least an hour out of one charge, or do I need to purchase an additional battery? What size SD card to you typically use and how much recording per card, ex. 20 minutes for 1gb..etc. ? Thanks!

I am not sure. I know I get more than an hour out of a charge and I have a 4GB memory card and I haven't filled it.

I don't have time this am, but can look later. I would have to search on Amazon's reviews. You can look there for answers, as that is where I get all my info.

You can get at least 3 hours of actual recording before charging the battery, and even then the battery was about 1/4 full. It takes about 2 hours to recharge the battery although I remember the first time took about 2 1/2 hours.

How much video it can hold depends on the resolution you choose to record in... but a 4gb or an 8gb card will hold hours and hours of video before needing to download. I have a 16gb card and now I wonder why! Just make sure and use an SD with fastg access, class 6 or higher. It really does make a difference in how quickly the camera responds and readies itself to record.

Thanks! I was just coming back here to report pretty much the same info.

I love ours. We also use a Fuji Finepix waterproof point and shoot still camera, too. While both cameras operate in both video and still mode, the Kodak is really primarily a video camera and the Fuji is really a still camera. The nice thing is they are both compact and perfect for travel. I can't believe we used to travel with the SLR and the Handycam! I love not having to worry about getting them wet, either. :thumbsup2

Ok, thanks! I ordered the Kodak Playsport and am going to pick it up later from Best Buy -used some gift cards:thumbsup2 I ordered 2 extra batteries for under $8 from ebay and now onto the sd cards. I'm thinking an 8gb would be just fine.

They are what most journalist use to film their interviews, etc. Our IT person said this is what they use to film the meetings to put public television. So the quality is there. It is easy to use and inexpensive.
We are thrilled with ours. My mother could pick it up & use it. Downloads are super easy.

We also have the Kodak Playsport and just brought it to Disney. I LOVE it! I didn't have to recharge it for the whole week. I didn't record everything but quite a few things everyday. I have an 8 GB card and I recorded overall about an hour and a half and still had room on it. The best part is the waterproof. I took it to the waterparks and recorded going down the slides. I took a lot of photos with it in the pool too. DDs LOVED taking photos underwater and the pictures actually turned out great. I paid around $150 when it first came out a few months ago, and its well worth it.

Great! I can't wait to start playing with mine. I picked it up from Best Buy last night, came home and ordered an 8gb card from Amazon. Does anyone use a case for this? and if so what do you recommend? Thanks!

Nope.

The flip comes a with rechargeable battery but you can use AA batteries with it also.

Help please then- ours is one of the orignal ones- dry battery. Ours doesn't open? Are you talking that generation or the new ones? Maybe they've improved what we have. But really if there is a way to open this thing can you share? Thanks. Because when we called Flip they said "Nope it's dead then"
