Flights to Orlando.

We're looking at staying at the art of animation resort because it's $300 a night for a party of 6, although the wilderness lodge is more my style but that can wait till the kids have grown up lol. The thirty grand came from flights at 1500 annual passes wdw accommodation universal accom and tickets, ksc tour, DL accom and tickets. If we skip Disneyland it will be a big saving. I will join all those things. Thanks. It's odd looking at the disneyworld side of things. I haven't yet been brave enough to venture to the dis disneyworld forum. Lol

If you only stay at WDW for 10 nights or days you would need maybe a 9 day ticket, not the annual pass.

Ouch! Kids are expensive. 30k is around about what ours will cost, but with just 2 adults, one 7 year old and one 2 year old, it stretches a hell of a lot further (essentially I'm pricing for 3, while you're pricing for 6).

Roughly:
Flights: ~10k
Accommodation: WDW (13n) 2.5, DLR (8n) 2.5, HI (5n) 1.3, UO (3n) 1, Cruise (7n) 4
Total Accom: 11k
Disney tickets, UO tickets, shore tours : 4k

So all up around 25k plus spending money. Ouch :(

30k for Flights, 10n WDW, 2n UO, 1n PC plus tickets still seems awfully high though - out of curiosity, what's your breakdown? If you're including spending money but I'm not then that'd explain it. Good luck though! Planning is the fun part.

You probably wont need the annual pass for wdw.
WE did the space centre & airboat ride, from undercover tourist.
KSC s great, very interesting.
The space shuttle Atlantis exhibiton was fab.
The airboat ride was fab too, a highlight of the trip.
Though I think it was close to $100 each for the day , for entry, tpt & ride.
Its hard when your kids are kids, but get charged as adults.
Whats dates are you planning on flying out next year??

It was 30,000 with 14 nights WDW 5 nights accom at universal but only 3 days at the theme park and one at KSC, then LA for 5 nights staying at paradise pier. That was annual passes for WDW and 4 day tickets for DL.

Yes with only 10 days we will certainly save some money on WDW entry. I don't want to cut it down though :( We should be able to do it for under 25 now which is about what we were hoping not to go over. If we totally skip disneyland that will be $1719 saved in entry tickets alone and a few thousand in accomodation as we have to have two rooms there pretty much.

These are roundabout prices for our original trip. I overcalcuted on the flights and somehow thought it would be $12000 for flights when it's only 9000 so thats instant savings. Yay.

WDW accom - $6000
WDW passes and DL tickets $6000
flights if $1500 each $9000
universal accom $1500
universal tickets $1100 (I think this included 1 day with that special front of line pass thing
space centre and everglades$858
Disney accom $3000
transfers and stuff too so I rounded it up

When we go to disneyland we always make sure one person has a annual pass so we get the discounts and we might still do this with WDW I think we can do it. Maybe we can afford to add one extra day to universal and 1 extra day to disneyworld. 10 days is never enough for us at Disneyland so I'm pretty sure it won't be enough for Disneyworld. :(

Oh and Saturday November 28th so the tail end of thanksgiving but we won't be going in on the Saturday.

Stuff it, stuff the money I'm going to do 3 days universal and 12 - 14 days WDW and 1 day at the space centre. I'm going to push for 14 day at WDW but I'll be OK with 12.

How soon do you think I should book The animation resort? Would it be safe to leave it a couple of months?

Hi Jacs

I have been to NASA it was fantastic better than i expected the kids will love it

You actually can go a second day if you dont get through everything it was worth the money. Especially Dine With An Astronaut

It sure adds up Jacs  My budget is very close to 30k for one adult, 3 kids. But I do have a 2k kennel fee which I always include in my budget. Our flights were $7016 all up. This includes VA to LA, then SW to San Francisco, Orlando, and Las Vegas. I tend to budget $2000 pp for flights all up. I think it's the theme park tickets that kills the budget.

I too wish I were rich, or at least win more than my usual $12 on tattslotto. I dread to think how much my NYC longer trip will cost

Those who have been to the space centre. Is it worth it? Did you like it? I haven't even begun to research it. I wouldn't be doing it for me but for hubby and the kids. I wouldn't mind doing that tour that included the Everglades boat ride.

Hi Jacs1234
We have been to the Kennedy Space Centre a number of times, DH loves it and the kids and I enjoy it too. We certainly don't have anything like it here in Australia! We last went in October and bought a tour with transport from Viator (so didn't have to worry about driving).

We just visited KSC and loved it - so much to do that you don't need to pay extra for any additional tours or special events as its hard to fit in one day all the standard things. The space shuttle Atlantis pavilion in particular was excellent.

If you did want to save money you could shave quite a bit off your estimated price by hiring a car eg through rentalcars.com for one day and driving over yourselves. Excluding adding an airboat tour, entry for your 6 would be $290 (5A + 1C) plus $17 in parking and tolls and $10 in petrol plus around $70 for the car (so around $400), but yes, I guess more hassle for the driver than just hopping on a tour.

Are you after a family suite? If so, book as soon as you can for one of those rooms.

You'll probably be stalking the Dis for info and there is usually a heap of chatter around the time when Disney releases their general public offers; so I'm sure you'll see those threads and the expected dates. When the offers are released, get on the phone to get the discount applied.

Hi Jacs1234

We stayed at Art of Animation in October, one week in a Little Mermaid Room the following in one of the Cars Suites. We booked about six months out as we really wanted the Cars Suites (as opposed to the Lion King or Finding Nemo) and of the three, the Cars Suites are the most popular. If you are planning on going around Christmas, and you specifically want one type of suite over the other, I would book as soon as possible.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yes Montanabel it's the cars suite we want so I will book next month. At least it is just one nights accomodation that you can get refunded pretty easily. I'll do it next month

Sounds like an awesome holiday. Keep us in the loop with your planning :yay:

Hi Jacs,
Just to offer a different opinion. We went last year and had 10 of us in Orlando. WDW accommodation was too expensive for us, so we rented a house from vbro.com. For the 14 days, it cost us about $1500 and we were about 10 minutes away from the parks. I managed to get a 15 seater car for $700 for the 2 weeks. We had room to spread out, a private pool that the adults could utilise whilst the kids were in bed (the kids could obviously use it too, but it was nice to relax in after they went to bed), not to mention a kitchen that we could utilise to cut down on food cost.
I know lots of people love being immersed in the Disney bubble, but we loved having a house. We will do the same thing when we go back next year. If finance is an issue, I wouldn't count it out.
