I am building my own holiday to orlando this April. Hotels, car etc are fine but flights seem to be a nightmare! Where have others found the best deals/cheapest flights to orlando or sanford. Thanks all.

Hi Bozzly!

I have to fly in school holidays and my goodness the flights are very expensive! The places I found had the best price were Bon Voyage and Expedia and Airline Network

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Hopefully the changes to the way we can purchase flights will mean we can get more bargains!

Karen

Your choices for flights are basically:
  • Direct Scheduled Flights into MCO
  • Direct Charter Flights into Sanford
  • Indirect Scheduled Flights - usually into MCO, but via another US airport
Flight costs depend on when you are going and when you book the flights. Obviously, flying during school holidays periods the costs are very expensive.
As for when to book flights, you can often get some very good last minute deals - but there is no guaranty that you will get the flight dates etc. that you want.
I always like to get my flights booked as soon as possible to guaranty the dates I want. You can always get accommodation, however late you leave your booking.

The choices that Karen gives are great for finding flight deals.
Flying indirect can also be cheaper, but it will extend you tavelling time. Although you get the benefit of clearing US customs at your first port of call and so your passage through Orlando airport will be easier.

I usually try the tour operators as I only go for direct flights.

You can sometimes get cheap charter flights into Sanford (although not in the school holidays). I'd just go into Thomas Cook or someone and let them do the work. Alternatively www.flightline.co.uk is a decent web-site.

For scheduled flights Virgin fly direct from within driving distance of Edinburgh but if you live near London you also have BA (and dont dismiss Tampa as if you're staying in the Disney area it's not much further than Sanford).

For Virgin I've not found cheaper than the Virgin web-site.

Sorry, cant give advice on indirect flights.

Booked for 19th April, schedulled flight into Miami £279 return. booked on line through unijet. Interestingly this is a 10 day return, if i had booked for 7 days the price doubled, don't know why. We will stay in Miami for 2 days and take the Turnpike to Orlando.

hi

try teletext
major travel
expedia

flight prices can vary so much. I think you have to play around with dates we booked for feb half term 10 nights £1600 for 5 including car hire. we tend to keep looking and if we see a good price we book it.
