Flights of Wonder question...

So we have plans to check out Flights of Wonder at AK on our upcoming trip... the question I have is, can you record the show? I can understand why flash photography wouldn't be allowed, but what about camcorders?

Are there any basic "rules" for recording shows and such at Disney? We didn't have a camcorder on our honeymoon, so I didn't have to think about it... this time we do, so I am... :teeth:

We saw FOW 2 yrs ago and, if memory serves, guests were permitted to come to the stage after the show to ask questions and take up-close photos of a few select birds. I do remember seeing camcorders, although we did not use one at the time. Try to get an aisle seat. :thumbsup2

Almost every time we go people are using their camcorders during the show.
They usually tell at the begining of the show if your not allowed, but I think it's okay!

We saw the bird show on this trip and I do not remember them saying that you could not use flash photography at all. I remember a few times when the young man conducting the show even told you to get your cameras ready because one of the birds was due to fly near by.

They also ask for two volunteers to come on stage with cameras and this time requested that one of the cameras be a video camera. They sit the two people on stage and have a beautiful owl fly onto a perch right above their heads. It is quite breath-taking!

I would imagine that you could easily record the entire show with out causing any problems or breaking any rules. The hardest part is keeping the birds in the view finder. Many of the them fly really fast and you end up with great photos of family members with surprised looks on their faces and no bird at all in the picture! :lmao:

The Festival of the Lion King I think allows video and flash photography. One show I know will not allow photography at all is the Cirque show. They are really strict about it! All of the shows announce before hand if the allow cameras and what kind.

We recorded Flights one trip and the main performer on the stage was telling everyone where to point their cameras and even said "make sure you get this on tape, folks" once, for a hawk that REALLY liked to skim the audiences heads. I don't remember anything about flash photography, but videotaping was definitely allowed.

We've taped Flights of Wonder before, also. It's definitely allowed.

I really like this show-- it's one of the more underrated attractions at WDW. Nothing fancy or technological, but still entertaining.

My DS23 took pics all during the show. But due to the outside theater, he didn't even need the flash.

Thanks for all your input everyone!...
There is one on the list for recording... the Jammin Jungle Parade is another...

I just can't hardly wait!!!.. :woohoo:

I agree! We saw this show for the first time on our last trip (May 9 - 16). It was very entertaining with lots of ooohs and ahhs to be had as well.

I totally agree with you that is one of most underrated attractions at WDW. We go to Ak we have to have to see the FOLK and this show. I really love it when they bring out the American Eagle. :woohoo:

Okay, you all have sold me. Definitely putting this one on the must do list for our trip. We've seen several shows like this at other places we've travelled to and always love them, but we did wonder if we should use some of our precious Disney time for something we've essentialy seen before. We were kind of leaning towards seeing it, but you all have ensured it's on the must do list! Thanks much!

Anyone have any pictures or links to videos? I have been wanting to see this show since myfirst trip to Disney but will finally get to see it for the first time in December. I'm really exciting after reading this post!

We almost missed Flights of Wonder ... walked by the entrance once and were too late for the show -- glad we caught it later. DH and I still talk about how great it was and how we can't wait to see it again!
