Flights of Passage and Disney Officially Suck

My love of WDW, namely MK, because that was all there was, began on our first trip in the Summer of 1972 whilst staying in a CR Tower Room. I was 14 y/o. I remember being in the CR pool at 11P and the grown-ups drinking monorails and us kids eating ice cream sundaes in the restaurant lobby at midnight.:goodvibes

Actually at that time it would have seemed like... Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life.

That's Carousel of Progress - didn't Horizons have snippets of Great, Big Beautiful tomorrow? I think so.

Yes, I know it was Carousel of Progress. I was making a little joke.

Great Big Beautiful Tommorow did make a cameo in Horizons. I'd like to say the girl taking a bubble bath had it playing on the radio or something. But it has been awhile so my memory may not be accurate on that detail.

Oh sorry! :) I actually don't remember Carousel of Progress from the 80's, and didn't go back to WDW until 2000 so missed the 90's! (and still haven't been on Carousel of Progress...)

We waited over 2-1/2 hours, got no sorry for the inconvenience, no fast pass, no nothing.

I can imagine that we'd have been VERY disappointed, but these things happen sometimes. What is NOT ok is that they didn't hand out new FPs.

Not everyone knows to go ask guest svcs for one after something like this, and honestly, nobody should have to.

WHAT????? Carousel of Progress is a classic! Even if it's for a quick nap, lol, it is a must every trip. Farro, PLEASE promise me you will check it out at least once!!!

Don't bother! Out first trip was in 1998, so I don't remember those glory days either, but for some odd reason my DD likes COP and made us go on it twice. The second time it got stuck and we saw the same scene 3 or 4 times before forcing the doors and escaping. Never again!

We must've just been lucky. We got home yesterday from a twelve day trip and we rode it three times without incident. Easily the best ride at WDW or US/IOA in my opinion.

This isn't anything that unusual with new rides, is it? There are bugs that will pop up. I never get into 4 hour line for anything, and I mean ANYTHING! NFW! Also, I never base my WDW trips specifically around any one thing so I wouldn't let something like this ruin my trip and who knows, I may get some additional FP out of it. :tink:I've also had some special things happen on my trips.
The OP didn't get into a 4 hour line. They got into a 120 minute standby line.

This happened to us last trip. We were ready to run when those doors opened!!!

I have to say we were extremely lucky Friday at AK. We got there at rope drop while everyone else headed to Pandora, we rode Everest 2 times, Kali River 2 times, did Safari, Saw the Festival of Lion King. We had FP for Navi but it was down along with FoP. So we got an anytime FP to use. We rode Dinosaur several times and Everest again with our anytime FP since Navi was still down. Then before leaving decided to walk through Pandora to see it even though rides were still down. While walking past FoP, ride reopened, we jumped in line and only had to wait about 5 minutes to ride. It was an great ride. Then we waited to ride Navi. That was not worth the wait, a slow short boat ride through shining forest to see a very cool animatronic.

I was there on Sunday (6/11) and I'm guessing they got all three theaters to work because I saw waits go as low as 70-90 mins at random points throughout the day. It seemed better to wait for one of these periods than go for rope drop (the boat ride on the other hand was walk on at rope drop).

Edit: Sorry, I guess there are actually FOUR theaters. In any case, what I meant was I think all theaters were running the day I was there because waits dropped throughout the day!

I would. Everything about WDW was better. Customer service was world class - seriously, other companies around the world came to Disney to learn customer service.

Everything about WDW just felt like hope and love.

I really wonder if Disney has lost its vision? Their focus now seems to be making the shareholders happy first, customers second.

Why would you expect them to give you FPs if they had no idea when it would be fixed? And .... quite honestly.... your safety is their first priority! You should be happy that there was no fire and they did the right thing in getting people out safely!!! Sorry you had a bad experience with waiting so long... but they can't really control technical malfunctions.
