Flights from Winnipeg

I know a couple months ago, NW was charging around $400-450. Now most airlines are about $550 for me. Unfortunately when they were cheaper, my plans weren't finalized. I'm hoping they drop soon since I rarely pay more than $500 to fly.

Hi fellow Winnipeger!!

We booked our flights with Westjet this past December and got them for $490 each. I booked right away!! I wish they had direct flights at other times of the year out of Winnipeg other than spring break.

I didn't realize WJ had direct flights during spring break! That's too bad, because other than Christmas, spring break is the other time period that I absolutely would never visit WDW! LOL I have a thing about large crowds...

We have gotten good deals through Northwest in the past. This December we are flying United. With the fees/taxes etc. it came out to $500 pp.
We booked last month.
DH was watching prices every day.

We live in Winnipeg and fly out of Minneapolis quite often. I booked 10 months ahead through NWA because I'm a control freak too and it was only $280CDN pp round trip. I haven't seen anything even close to that. Even with the drive and the hotel we're still ahead. Good luck!

We went last winter with WJet amazing price! $179 each way and then it went even lower after we booked. That was DIRECT a first for us ever. Our friends were going to go but they delayed 12 hours and the fare went way up.

I was never happier than that direct flight YWG to MCO. Totally agree to keep watching it from Oct to Dec.

Well I have committee to United - I booked 2 seats using Aeroplan miles on AC's partner, United. The times were great - leave at 9:45 am (very respectful!), and arrive at MCO at 5. That beats the midnight arrival we had last time we used aeroplan!

Now I have to keep watching United for a sale. However, I have "split" our group up so that if an unbelievable deal comes up with someone else, we can go separately. Not ideal, but not the end of the world if the price is right. Thank goodness for Magical Express - that will make 2 separate arrivals soooo much easier!

Hey AZMyers, where do you stay when you drive to Minneapolis? I know there is another thread about this somewhere so sorry for going OT. We got flights out of MSP for $270 CAD pp return to MCO in October on NWA. Out of Regina flights are running between $600-700. :scared1:

I am thinking about flying out of Fargo on November 11th coming back on November 24th. What is the weather like at that time of year. i know there can always be a freak snow storm but generally is it OK?

generally good weather. there is always a chance of a snow storm but we usually know its coming before it shows up!

Ok am I dumb or can I just not figure out Air Allegiant's website. How do I actually get the fare prices????

There's a yellowish square on the upper left side of the page. There's a drop down list for choosing your departure airport (Fargo) and another drop down for choosing Orlando-Sanford. Click on the little calendar for your dates. Any will do, the next page will show you when they fly, and you can see the fares on the blue-coloured calendar that pops up.

There is a $15 charge PER WAY fee for checked bags, but the prices are still better than most airlines out of winnipeg. I love those cheap flights.

OK looking for flights for my DCL and I can save $800 by driving to Minneapolis and fliying with NWA...did want to drive that far but that is allot of $$:confused3

saving $800 is like saving $57 for every hour you are in the car driving. assuming a 14 hour round trip. Is the $800 a net savings? ( parking and fuel?) I would also check Fargo ( we personally prefer to fly Northwest rather than allegiant or frontier mostly because they fly into MCO and not sanford, since we never rent a car, also we collect the world perk miles.)

For our trip in december we are flying NW from fargo and i've calculated a net savings of $508.00 or $84.65 per hour of driving ( assuming a 6 hour round trip drive to fargo)

I just checked on flights again for January (we had already booked using airmiles flying through Toronto), and saw WestJet had flights from Winnipeg to Orlando at 3:00 pm on Thursdays, and returns leaving Orlando 8:30 pm the following Thursday. We changed our flights and will have more time down there as well :cool1:

Just in case anyone is looking to book...

We booked West Jet for January !!! They added direct flights from Winnipeg to Orlando and return direct as well for $209 Price could drop again but we were happy with the price and the flight times! You never know prices could rise

:flower3:

For those booking through WestJet, can you also post the total cost including fees? I know it adds up with WestJet. Thanks!

DH received an email from United yesterday. We have already booked through them but it looks like they have some reduced fares. Not sure of the dates as I didn't get the email myself but we are going end of Nov.

For 4 of us to fly from Winnpeg to Orlando in January it was just under $2200.

I booked our flights to Orlando from Winnipeg to Orlando for $2848.55.One way is direct but coming home we have a 2 hour stayover in Toronto. I am happy with the price and hope it doesn't drop. I was on the West jet website the other day and to book the exact same flights for 5 people would cost me almost $400.00 more so fingers crossed that it stays that way!
