We are heading back to Disneyworld this September. Last year we flew Auckland/SF and then caught the 3.15 United nonstop across to Orlando. It arrived about midnight.
I have just gone to book this again and the United flight now leaves at 1.40. Arrgh!! As the Auckland flight gets in at 12.15, I don't think I can risk getting that flight. Is there another good connection which I don't know about? Any help greatly appreciated!!

I think there are more options out of LAX than SFO. Otherwise, you could maybe stay a night or two at SF before continuing on?

I'm another vote for going through LAX.
do you have a need for going to SF - i suspect it makes both flights slightly longer.
I wonder if you would also have more airlines to choose from or do you like to book the whole trip on 1 ticket or collect FF points?

Actually, flying Auckland/LA gives me less options. The earliest flight gets in at 12.55pm and there are no afternoon flights going to MCO. I have found a frontier airline flight flying out of SFO at 2.40pm which will get us in at midnight so I think I will go with that even though I have never heard of this airline!
I like to go straight through and not have stop overs as it takes extra days of the holiday.

hi there
we have flown frontier and they are great. buy the classic plus and you get free baggage, extra room etc....they all go thru Denver so you wont be able to get a non stop, but connections are efficient. Just make sure you board early as over head space fills fast.

We were going to fly them again this year but times didn't work out..so off to delta we went.
Great airline & reasonable prices.

We are planning to go to WDW in Oct14. The Air NZ flights into LAX get in too late for any reasonable transfers onto Orlando. So we are going to break the trip up and stay a night at LAX. Seems like a waste of a day, but will probably be the best option for us anyway.

oh yeah - a quick google search shows you just can't get to MCO any earlier, due to time changes and flight schedules.

You could fly LAX- DFW - MCO but you probably don't have enough time in LAX to make the connection.

So are NZers staying overnight in LAX when they go to WDW?

What about flying to SYD and then getting on a flight from there?

Frontier are great! and they have the best ads! :goodvibes

I have had a look on the Air NZ site and it shows the flight to SFO getting in at 11.15am, and then departing to Orlando on United at 1.40pm.
It does show it as a valid connnection, but yes, quite a tight transit time.

I'm back to square one as Frontier has just sent me an email saying that the flight time has changed from 2.55pm to 11.30pm - before we arrive!

We arrived back Thursday. Flew VA to LAX arriving 8:30am. We checked into the Travelodge, at the day rate, for a shower and snooze. Caught the 10:10pm Delta direct flight to Orlando arriving 5:59am. :)
