I would probably be the same! Going there is exciting so you don't mind certain things, but on the way home, you just want to get there!!
Haha, I know ALL about stretching the budget! I'm way off with mine, oops..
I'm hoping to try and save in airfare cause man it can be expensive!
We rented through Redweek for our 9 nights in Maui. I checked out VRBO as well. So far, I've had a great experience with the person I'm dealing with via Redweek, and the nice thing is we didn't have to pay all monies up front. Just a deposit and the rest 90 days before we arrive.
If you happen to have any tips to share for Maui, I'm all ears! I've got so much already planned when we arrive at Aulani in Oahu, but not much pall we for our Maui portion.
Thanks for your help![]()
I will definitely share when we get home! I've been reading the TripAdvisor Maui forums a lot, and on our to-do list is:
Road to Hana
Whale watch (whale season Dec-April)
Tour Upcountry Maui (incl. stops at Ali'i Kula lavendar farm, Surfing Goat Dairy and town of Makawao)
Snorkeling - recommended beaches seem to be Napili, Kapalua and Kahekili
Explore northwest Maui area, Kapalua Coastal Trail to Nakelele Blowhole
and of course, lots of relaxing on the beach! The Haleakala sunrise/sunset is on our maybe list, you do need online reservations for sunrise now ($1.50, and you can book through the national parks website) but we will see whether we feel up to the 2am wake-up when the time comes!
I was thinking of doing a mini trip report as even though we aren't doing Oahu/Aulani, it seems like a fair number of DISers add Maui to their Aulani trips and it could still be helpful! I've learned so much from reading other TRs!
