The Disney Magic gets into port on July10
we orginally had a 12:15 flight from Orlando
now us air has changed it to 11:45 am
What time are people getting off the magic?
How long does it take to get to the airport?
Will we going to make the flight?
I tried to switch my flight to 1:15 but not enough seats for my group of 13. We have your ride picking us up at the port and they said we should be at the airport by 10:15am
How long is the wait for security?
thank you

You should be fine. We were off the ship by 8:00 a.m. in January. If you use one of the airlines that checks your bags at the port and provides you with boarding passes you will definitely be set. We waited about 3 minutes to pass through security at MCO, but already had boarding passes. We flew US Airways. There are several airlines there to check your bags at port.

You may want to check, but the last I heard, the airlines will not allow you to use your check in at port unless you have booked DCL transportaion. If you are using a limo/taxi service, you may not be able to use USAir's check in service at the port terminal.

My flight was also changed to 11:45. I'm thinking we should be okay.

It worked for us in January 2004, we had a friend pick us up at the port and the deliver us to MCO later on that night with nothing but our carry ons, so if it has changed since then, I am not aware of that. Good luck.

I saw a post on this board about two weeks ago about this. It's definitely a new thing.

Our flight was at 12:40pm and we were bored stiff at the airport. I was wishing it was when yours is. Check in was very simple and done at the port. All I had to do was give the girl my reservation number and she checked our bags in and gave me our boarding passes...and I did not book my airfare through Disney. I think you'll be fine. Also, we were off the ship by 8am so that may factor in.

bostonlass - I think the posters are talking about a thread from PorterBob. This is what he posted recently "If you do not have DCL transfers (not airline reservations), then you are not allowed to use the Airlines check-in at the Port. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I do not know if they always apply these rules but PorterBob said it was being applied when he posted. - Mike

i just got off the phone with a dcl supervisor about us air check in at the port and as long as you are flying usair you can use the port checkin if your flight is 11:45am you must have your luggage checked in by 8:15am

what porter bob is saying in order to purchase dcl transfers for transportation you must have you dcl room key other people are adding something else in about luggage, i called dcl again and spoke with a different supervisor and she said you do not pay to check 6 bags in it is free to check in if your airline is there hope this helps

BMURPHY02 - Thanks for clearing that up but I'm still confused. Guess I should not worry as I have transfers. In PorterBob's thread it has the text I pasted below. If you called DCL and talked to a supervisor I wouldn't worry about it as well. - Mike

PorterBob replied further - "Transfer" is basically the transportation between the terminal and airport or resort. Some folks prefer to set up their own transfers back via taxi's, limo's, or rental car. Up until now, anybody could check in luggage at the check-in area without being asked for proof of their transfer package. Hope I explained that well.

And further on mmouse37 says "I think what PorterBob is saying that DCL will now only let you check in bags at the port if you have purchased DCL transfers from the port to the airport or if you bought airfare from DCL where the transers would have been included in the air price. The transfers are $25 one way from port to airport if you buy them separately from the air package (same as they always have been).

Actually, this was the way it used to be...you could only check in bags if you had purchased DCL transfers....looks like they let that rule slide for a long time but now are reinforcing it again.

MJ"
