I got an email from US AIR today changing my flight times on the way home from 9:20PM to 6:50PM!
Did anyone have this happen to them!
I mean come on they have take over 3 hours of my time at disney away from me without even a reason!!
This has made me mad!! Now i have to rearrange my whote itinerary!! I mean i planned special things for the last day now i have to try to fit them in earlier or on a different day. ! :mad: ::mad:

First go to the USAir web site and make sure there is not a later flight that you would rather have. If so call them and ask for that. They don't always change you to what you would pick on your own.

The same thing happened to us in April. We were to return home after our cruise on Thursday (the thursday before Easter.) Our flight was changed, in fact the same exact times you mention. I called and was lucky enough to get a sympathetic CSR. He changed our flight to Friday at noon(a much more expensive flight as it was Good Friday.) I made a point of reminding them that I was now returning to Phila. earlier that I was originally scheduled to leave MCO. I also mentioned everything you did--that I had vacation plans that were being effected by their actions.

Good luck!

I flew Southwest once from Indy to Orlando, and booked it because it was a nonstop with the times I wanted. The inbound flight was great, but they cancelled our return flight and we had to fly to Baltimore, change planes after a four hour wait, and then fly home to Indy. We spent the whole last day of our vacation in the plane or in the airport. I have avoided Southwest ever since.

This happened to us too in April with USAir. The rule is if they change your flight, they must some how attempt to accomodate you with no change fee. I called USAir and asked for a manager immediately. I got a very nice woman who helped me to find better flights. You might want to stay a day later if you had special plans. Good Luck!

Thanks for all your input everyone!
I did call usair and they said they have no idea why they did it and i checked usair along with all the other airlines. And they have cut all the late flights from orlando to philly , at least on that date and also the date after. I have the FTP package, guess i could check to see how much it would be to stay over another nite and leave the next day.
oh man what a sacrafice that would be! hahahhaha
thank will try that.
The usair woman also said that there would probably be another change in three months. they do schedule changes every month.
I would have to watch for that myself though. So they move you from your original flight on their own, but if the flight would go back to the later time, or even if the flight is re-instated, i would have to call and make those arrangements on my own.

I love flying! thanks again everyone!

I'm flying Northwest in October and have received an e-mail notifying me of an itinerary change each of the last 2 weeks. The first one delayed the departure time for my trip home from TPA by 30 min :D (a little more Disney time). The second one changed my connecting flight from MEM to BNA by 5 minutes. I suppose it will affect some passengers, but it only means my layover will be 1 hr 35 min instead of 1 hr 40 min.

I'm a PA resident also and I am surprised they changed your flight times into Philly. I read in the paper that USAir was cutting flights in/out of Pittsburgh and Charlotte during the month of September. It is probably the airlines way of leveraging since the State is in negotiations with them about fees at the Pittsburgh airport.

I am holding my breath for our return trip in September. Good luck and keep us posted. It's such a shame - all that planning and the airline can change times on you at a moments notice.:(

Don't let it spoil your fun!!

I'm flying American, and they did the same thing! A few weeks ago they sent a message that we were leaving 3 hours earlier and were sitting nowhere near each other. I called and they said that the flight (which was originally nonstop) was cancelled, and now they were only offering nonstop earlier in the day or 1-stop later. She did change me back closer to the original time, but now we have a short layover and still don't have seats together. It is excessively annoying, when you consider that, if you wanted to make these sorts of changes at this time, they'd expect a hefty fee...but if they make it, you can just expect to lump it.

Did you decide what you're doing yet?

If you decide to go home the next morning, see if you can add the extra night as a room only reservation, instead of an extension of the package. Your tickets from the package are good until midnight on your checkout day, so there's really no need to pay for another day of tix if you are leaving in the morning. It'll be a lot cheaper!

We're flying Northwest to Disney in October, and I got an email last week delaying our arrival time by quite a bit. Fortunately, I'd booked through Orbitz so all I had to do was call them and they wrangled with the airline for me.

The first time the Orbitz rep called, they tried to book us on an incredibly early flight, telling the rep that they wouldn't allow rebookings to a 10 a.m. flight. As she was explaining this to me, she all of the sudden said, "That's ridiculous. You should be able to take the 10 a.m. flight. I'm gonna hang up on the airline and call back. Can you hold a little longer?" I did, and she came back a couple of minutes later after booking us on that 10 a.m. flight. :teeth: Now that's customer service! Orbitz rocks!

All the airlines are guilty of these tactics. I was on a Continental flight where they changed our departure from Boston by 10 minutes no big deal. The return flight had the layover shortened. Unfortunately the flight leaving New Orleans was delayed and by the time we got to New Jersey we had a mere 20 minutes to get from one gate to another. I calmly asked the flight attendant to call the other gate and let them know we were on the ground and running. Her response was a rather rude "you should have allowed for more time" I must admit I lost it then and just as rudely explained that Continental had changed the flights-perhaps THEY should have allowed more time. It is sad to see what has happened to the airline industry. Not fun to fly anymore simple a mode of transportation for most of the airlines.:(

Just an FYI. They generally won't call anymore and regardless of WHAT the FA tells you in the air chances are slim that your connecting flight will be held. (They always say something like, the Ground agents are aware of our delay. Yeah aware and are not going to do anything!)

The airlines have to report every time the flight leaves the gate more then 5 minutes late and as a result they are a lot less likely to hold planes anymore.
