Flight seasons changed?

While I was speaking to a TA today I mentioned the price hike in Oct compared to Sep and Nov and she turned her screen around to show me that Oct is now its own season so currently its sometime in July to 30th of Sep, then 1st to 31st of Oct and not sure about Nov grrr! If anything Sep prices should be higher then Oct because its the tail end of US summer but who knows!

Semi-related topic, but I'm looking into flights from Melb to MCO in early January 2013. Flights for this time are only becoming available now and are at a ridiculously high price - does anyone know when they would come down? Return prices from Mel to MCO for January 2012 were around $1500 with VA yet the price for the flight from MEL to MCO alone is that much right now!

I know there were lots of people like us looking out for fares to the US in October / November.

I just looked at the Qantas site, and the flights we are after leaving in Oct returning in Nov have dropped from $2255 to $2003 pp. Still expensive, but better than before. If you can leave before 10 Sept or after 1 November, looks like fares are available for $1299. Not sure if these fares are part of the Grand Prix sale, which ends on 21 March.

Just a heads up. Still thinking about if we should jump on these or hold out for something better. Looks like Oct is expensive this year.

Im hoping Qantas will extend this grand Prix sale by at least 1 day i need to change DH's flight only at times like this do i wish we had a credit card
but seriously i thought the prices were fairly good prices compared to what they have been.
