We're planning on going to WDW 1st 2 weeks in Feb./09
Checking the prices from Edmonton, Alberta they average around ca$800 Return

Has anyone out there flew to Orlando from Calgary or Edmonton in Feb. last year?
If so what did you pay?
Is it better to wait closer to the date?

Thanks in Advance!

We paid 2800.00cad direct from Calgary to Orlando for the five of us inc taxes last Feb. The closer you wait the higher the price goes to fill seats. Try going to travelocity.ca and see if they can find you a cheaper flight. BTW it is usually cheaper to fly into Tampa which is approx 90 miles from Orlando. We paid 2360.00cad for the five of us inc taxes for this upcoming trip which we booked in February...not direct though as their are no direct flights until January:3dglasses

Before the fuel surcharges we were flying for under $400 pp from Edmonton all in. This has gone up significantly. (We paid about $500 for Mar/Apr 09 but I believe the fuel surcharges have gone up since then.)
With the US airlines it seems they only have so many of the low cost seats and once they are gone the prices go up. That being said, it is worth watching the prices for a week or two to see what is happening. If there are specials they tend to be advertised on Wed or Sat. Check to see what the closer in flights are going for. Air Canada and Westjet run specials but generally not too far out. Westjet's current price for Nov is as much as $400 lower than Feb. www.kayak.com a good source.

Westjet has a direct flight from Calgary starting in Nov.

Have you priced out flying to Seattle or Portland, or another US city and then buying separately for that city to Orlando?
It might work out cheaper.
Last year in January we flew Seattle-Orlando for $378 return for TWO of us.
This year....well not such a good deal, but hoping for a ding.

It isn't, really. Right now the best you can do is with Northwest at about $640 pp for Edmonton to Minneapolis to MCO, booking a few months in advance during non-peak times. I tried every possible US choice (Billings, Spokane, Seattle, etc.) but it's the same or more for more inconvenience.

Kinda frustrating when we flew to WDW in March for $375 each. Sure wish we had a Buffalo airport an hour's drive from here. Maybe when the Westjet/Southwest deal kicks in .....(sigh).

Perhaps someone can explain to me why flight prices go up closer to actual flight date? You'd think the airlines would want to sell those seats if the plane was flying to that location anyway:confused: I'm still waiting for a good price on a flight on Oct 10th!

We flew from Edmonton to Orlando January 21-29, 2008 and our flights through NWA were around $320 pp/taxes included. In contrast our May 2008 flights (again with NWA) were $410 pp/taxes included. We're looking to book our January 2009 flights and can't find anything under $745 pp right now :sad2:

As others have said, the earlier you book your flight the better/cheaper it is.

As your travel date gets closer, prices most always go up as the airlines only sell so many "cheap" seats and once they're gone they're gone. Those seats are grabbed as soon as they become available.

I'm still waiting for a good price on a flight on Oct 10th!
:scared1: We've had our flights for our October 8th trip to Orlando for close to 6 months. I highly doubt you'll get a cheap flight this close to departure - you'll be lucky to get a flight for under $1000/pp, plus there will most likely be slim pickings for seat selections. :sad2:
