I know this has been discussed before but just trying to get feedback from people who have visited in the last couple of weeks. We will be visiting second week of February and of course could not get a fast pass. We will only be visiting Animal Kingdom one day so i need to get this right. I cannot wait in a 3 hour line with 2 kids. So how early before park opening should we arrive? Are they still letting people into the park early? Should we just drive to the park that morning? TIA

As early as you can manage before rope drop. We were there an hour before rope drop and I would like to have been there sooner. It also varies daily as to when they actually let you in compared to actual RD time. Come early and bring entertainment for waiting, if it's that important for you. Or, hope for SDFP/modify at the drop times.

Edit: Yes, I would drive.

The night before and the morning of--and during the day if you didn't get to ride or want to go again--keep refreshing MDE. FPs do show up on the day of. I know this because I did this 3 times for day-of FPs for FoP just 10 days ago. Good luck!

If you wait for the resort busses, you'll be in the middle of the rope drop pack - not where you want to be. Definitely drive yourself. We arrived at around 6:30 or so for an 8 AM EMH morning and we were one of the first people on the ride. By the time resort busses started coming - around 7 or so - it was packed already.

Rope drop can be the busiest time of the day for this attraction. I checked several days recently and the wait times were up to 210 within 10 minutes of park opening. The waits were down to 30 within 10 minutes of park closing on the same day.

Just keep in mind that posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders.

As far as resort buses go how quickly does Beach Club Villa buses arrive?

That's where we stayed in July! I had been expecting a bus to arrive at 6:30. We got down to the bus stop at around 6:20, and no Animal Kingdom bus times were displayed on the board that shows the time that the next bus is due to arrive. We waited a few minutes, then gave up and took an Uber. So, I'm not sure when the first bus actually game, but I know it wouldn't have been early enough for my plan.

That is what I am thinking. I have never used Uber before. So how did you take a uber last minute? Also how long did it take the Uber driver to arrive once you arrange it?

Don't worry, the only way to take Uber is last minute :) they aren't booked in advance. Once you download the app on your phone, it's easy to use! You enter where you want to go, and a driver sees your location and starts heading to you. We waited less than 5 minutes for the driver to arrive. They are always drivers around on property ready to pick people up.

That is nice to know!! I will plan on using it as a backup plan!!
