Flight of passage question

A FOP Cast Member told us that he found that the best strategy is to get in line just before park closing. In his words, "If you are going to wait in line, it's best at night and when everything else is closed and you aren't missing out on anything". Personally, I'd take a end of the night FOP line over an end of the night resort bus line any day. Going back to the resort well after park closing might actually make your bus ride back to the resort a lot less crowded. :)

Do they keep running busses to all the resorts until the last guest is out?
Or might you end up having to make transfers from whichever is the only one running late?

I am not sure. We were fortunate to finish just about 30 minutes after park closing and all of the buses appeared to be running. I am not sure what happens with those who get out much later though. The good thing is that because AK is always one of the earlier closing parks (if not the earliest), I would imagine that there would be a few options of how to get back to the resorts.

Officially, they say buses run regularly 1 hour after park close. But I have read they won't ever leave anyone stranded. In other words, there is always a bus that will take you where you need to go even if it is beyond the regular hours.

A few years ago we walked from EPCOT to Fantasia Gardens after Illuminations. All the parks closed early that night and EPCOT was the latest park open. After playing a round of mini golf, we walked to the Swan to take a cab back to our resort - The Polynesian. As we arrived at the Swan, there was a bus pulling up with Magic Kingdom on the marquee. It was well after 11PM and The Magic Kingdom had been closed for several hours. I walked up to the bus and asked the driver if he was heading to MK and he asked me "where do you want to go." I said we were heading to the Polynesian so the Transportation and Ticket Center would be great. He said "no problem", drove us to the TTC and we walked from there to the Poly.

Worst case you could take a bus to an open park or Disney Springs and transfer like you said or just cab or Uber/Lyft back to your resort.
