So my mother had a very severe shoulder injury that she has been recovering from this past year. She's much better, but still has some pain/limited extension that will likely be chronic. Planning out our trip and there are some rides she knows she won't be able to do/do comfortably (e.g. most coasters), but one she isn't sure of is Avatar: Flight of Passage. I haven't gotten to ride it myself yet as I was pregnant on my last WDW trip. so I can't advise her on this one. Would you say that this ride would put strain on a person's shoulders? Or should she be okay to ride?

I'd say it's okay. You do sort of lean over like you are riding a bike, but you press your torso into a pad, which supports most of your weight. The ride doesn't really move that much, sort of a gentle swaying for the most part. Theoretically you don't even have to hold on, though if you are at the top and look down, you might want to! 😲

It is horrible for people with claustrophobia, more than anything. If the shoulder issue affects the neck, that is an issue. I can do FoP, but I cannot ride on the cycle for Tron.

Its my favorite ride. I'm old and have joint pain (shoulder too), not overweight and FOP is my favorite ride. My husband get slightly dizzy in certain (quick movements of what's going on the screen) areas but simply closes his eyes quickly. Everything moves quickly so over before you realize it. I actually find it to be very relaxing and thrilling.

I do not ride Tron or Guardians of the Galaxy and never could do 'jerky' rides like Space Mt and Dinosaur. (that one is gone now anyway).

Depends on what the limitation is and what direction. I've got Adhesive Capsulitis so I can't stick my arm straight up or say put my hand behind my back. I had no issues on my last trip in October.

I have an artificial shoulder as a result of a break. FoP is my favorite ride, and I ride as many times as I can every visit. It doesn’t bother my shoulder at all and didn’t bother it even when it was still healing and I was doing physical therapy. Your hands grip handle bars in front of you but position of your arm isn’t restricted. The movements of the “bike” are pretty gentle, not jerky, and don’t swing your arm around in any way.

You're getting ahead of yourself. Disney has announced Dinosaur is closing, but it is not closed yet. It's expected to remain open through at least the end of this year.

And when it comes back, the ride will still be basically the same, movement-wise - it will just have Indiana Jones scenery.

Thanks. My adult daughter (who I travel with a lot to Disney) will be thrilled. Favorite ride. They kept announcing it so I just presumed construction started.
I honestly think more people would want it to stay rather than Indiana Jones.
