Flight Delay question?

Hi. My husband's flight to Atlanta just took off from Boston about an hour late. I am tracking it online that's how I know. They will arrive in Atlanta estimated at 9:20pm. However, his connecting flight to Denver(his final destination) is scheduled to leave at 9:10pm. Can anyone tell me how this works? Will they hold up the flight so that they can catch it or does he just miss it and have to spend the night in Atlanta? Any help or advice would be great. I just feel so nervous for him that it isn't going to work out and I am sure he is stressing out on his flight right now. We have never had problems before on any of our flights so I am just wondering how this works!!
Thanks a lot,
Kimmy :(

It may depend on how many people are going to miss the connection. The weather is bad in Atlanta tonight, the flight to Denver may be running late too.

Oh, I hope so. Thanks for not giving me bad news...Makes me feel a little better!!! :scared:

It sounds like Airtran...

I figure it's 50/50, but the weather here in Atlanta is not good. Plus if it is AirTran the gates are VERY close together.

The website still shows it ontime. But that doesn't mean anything, I was on an AirTran flight MCO/PIT earlier this month that said ontime right until the last minute that ended up being an hour late leaving (they never made an announcement in the gate area). Someone next to me at the gate told me she called at 3:00pm and they said it would be late, flight was at 7:50. To ease your mind, I would call AirTran and ask for the status of the second flight (1-800-AIRTRAN).

Me again!! Well, my husband's connecting flight in Atlanta just took off and he was on it :cool1: I am not sure that he originally made it because when he landed, I tracked his connecting flight and it showed that it had just departed. For some reason, I think the doors were closed and all of that and then I think it was delayed further so they let them on. It ended up leaving almost an hour and a half late so I am so glad that they let them board. Things usually work out for us when we travel, thank God!!! Well, I guess I can go to sleep now and stop tracking the flights. He is going to call me when he arrives safely in Denver. Thanks!!!

Glad to hear that he made the connection. If this has never happened to either of you before (delayed flight=missed connection), you're lucky!

Just FYI, departing flights are usually not held because a connecting flight is delayed.
