As we are having to get new flights for our November trip we are exploring the possibility of having to change at Newark. Has anyone else done this?

I am worried about missing connections etc, and would prefer to pay an extra £300 for the whole party for the knowledge of knowing that once I am on the plane I am on my way with no hassle.

What do you think?

We flew via Washington in 2002 and that went just fine. It didn't even occur to me that we may miss our flight:earseek:

I think now I would rather just pay for the direct flight to save the hassle. But if I was trying to save pennies I would certainly give the in-direct route a go again :)

my rule now is if your flying scheduled ask if you can have a free stop over and take it and have an extra break in the city (hub )of your choice or if you cant have a nice meal in the best restaurant the airport has to offer so you can unwind into your holiday..It will make the 2nd leg of the journey fly by....

We are now fully booked up with Continental from Birmingham to Newark and then connecting from Newark to Orlando International. The clincher was that we wouldn't have to drive all the way back from Gatwick or Heathrow on our return. It was a bitt of a killer the last time we flew into Manchester. Everyone was so tired and it seems worth the extra hour in the airport and the extra cash can be spent on Disney!! Woohoo!
