Hi everyone.
We are due to travel with Northwest Airlines to Orlando via Detroit on 23/5/2008.
I have received an e-mail from Expedia to say they have changed the times. Its not an awful lot of difference but means a longer wait for the connecting flight.
We were originally flying from Heathrow at 09.15 and it has been changed to 08.50 outgoing.
The return journey from Detroit was 17.55 and is now 18.40 so is 45 minutes later coming home.
None of this is too much of an inconvenience but it now appears that the flight is being operated by Delta Airlines and is a different plane.
Im really concerned because it was not an airline I would have originally chosen to fly with and they have had quite a few bad reviews from fellow dissers!
Does anyone know if their flights have seat back TV's?
I was always under the impression they were older planes with the TV in the middle of the isle? This would be a nightmare with my DD and DS who are only 3 and 5 years old!!
I have rang Expedia and they said they will make some enquires and come back to me.
Am I panicking over nothing? I just feel like no matter how much we plan our trips something always goes wrong.

Hi Mandy.
I couldn't understand why you got the time of 9:15am when you posted before. When we flew the same journey in October it was 8:50am.

This will happen many times with NWA and Delta now. End of last year the merged so they are both the same company now. As you say usually the Delta flight is not as good as NWA but I am sure they will be chopping and changing routes/planes so you won't know which plane you will be on, it could be a more modern one by May, no-one knows.
Thankfully I book flights for lowest price possible, they can do away with IFE and food, amenity packs and lower costs for me but I know many book flights because of them.

Hi and Thanks for your reply Wayneg. I have calmed down a bit now! It looks like the new plane is a 767-300. I looked it up on the seat guru and they do appear to have seat back TV's etc My hubby has exactly your sentiments with regards to amenities on planes and has pointed out that we can take the kids portable DVD players to keep them occupied if neccessary!!
I need to forget about the flight and concentrate on the holiday!!
Thanks again for all your good advice!!
Mandy

You really need to stop worrying and enjoy your planning. :rotfl:
Its easy for me to say, I never worry about a thing anymore, we once missed a flight to Los Angeles, another time arrived in Orlando and Alamo had run out of cars, another trip had 2 rooms in hotel booked and they only had one on the system.
Its all part of the adventure of travel, all turns out well in the end and you will have a fantasitc trip, things might just be a little different to what you set out to do sometimes.

Always found Delta to be good myself, NWA have now merged with them.

I think it totally depends which route and plane you are on, the one we were on last year was very basic, no seatback TV's only 1 large TV with 2 films on. terrible staff. But others have no problems. Same with all airlines, they have good and bad days, good and bad planes.
We are using them again in August but Business class so hoping to be looked after on that trip.

Oh Wayne I am so hoping you all 'get away' with this business class booking error but I am doubtful. What makes you so sure you will? Did someone get independent confirmation? If it were me, I'd be convinced it would be covered by some small print somewhere once it's uncovered. I've got my fingers crossed for you though ;)

Hi Moira, Had them booked since early October, rung Delta and they have confirmed row 2, seats A,B,& C both directions by phone in BC( they actually called it First class on phone) also sent email confirming seats.
I check every week or so on www.checkmytrip.com, airfrance, Delta & Expedia. All say same.
Nobody has ever said it was a mistake, even though it 99% looks like a mistake. Someone has suggested it was a corperate code applied to public bookings by mistake, but who knows? still seems too low for that.
Over the past few years I have had a few online errors, hotel booking only charging for half the nights, another hotel booking only charging £22/night instead of £22pp, for flights we were charged £336pp in August 2 years ago when every other site incl BMI direct were charging over £700pp. All these have been honoured.
For the 1st week or 2 I was expecting a cancellation, upto a month I was half expecting an appolgy and either cancel or some kind of offer, after almost 4 months I would be very suprised they change anything but time will tell.:goodvibes
I did actually book BC, it is not an error where they have given me the wrong seats, its just when I booked the BC price was same as economy, its also not an Expedia fault as the prices were same on Opodo and direct with AirFrance.

Wayne - don't forget to use the Business Class check-in and make sure they give you passes for the Executive lounges at the airports.

I have a feeling that you'll find yourselves developing a taste for business class! ;)

Doubt we will have much time for lounges but we will see nearer the time. We don't usually arrive at airports until about 90 mins to departure, just enough time to checkin, a quick look around and goto gate and start boarding.
I guess I will sleep the whole way same as I do in economy, just have a little more room.

Sounds like you've got the year's bargain holiday there Wayne ;) - business class AND OKW!!!!!

To OP, sorry to hijack your thread, but I agree with others, you have little to worry about, especially if you take portable DVD players just in case. :)

when we went with Delta we had quite a few time changes
nothing to major
just check before you fly for the right times
