So I had my plans all set for my arrival day as we were supposed to be in Orlando at 10am....thank you Delta, they just changed my flight from Boston from 7am to 8:59am.....arriving in Orlando around 12:45.....this was supposed to be our Animal Kingdom day now I have to rethink my plans because we won't have anytime to do Animal Kingdom.....

Delta is known for this!! Can't believe they do it so often but they do. For us it worked the other way and they have extended our leave day by 6 hours, but I suspect this will change yet again, so not getting my hopes up!!

Because they have changed your times by more than hour, see if there is an alternative flight you can take and they will swap you for free... Dare I suggest the day before?? :p

Many people say Animal Kingdom is a half day park anyway ;).

Look at Delta's schedule. Find a flight that better fits your needs/plans. Call Delta. Politely demand to be moved to that flight at no charge because of the airline's changes - remembering that the person you're talking to didn't make those changes.

Delta is known for this!!
Every legacy carrier is "known for this". Outside influences (e.g. airport conditions, travel patterns) can't be absolute the more than 11 months in advance needed for a 331 day schedule release.

unfortunately my dates are not flexible:sad:
and arriving at almost 1pm I am not sure what time we would get to AK and they close at 5pm that day....just aggravating and I know airlines do this....I just looked at Delta's website and I guess I should'nt complain about the change, my ticket that I paid $239 for round trip is now $615(now that is what I call sticker shock)

Us too!!! What is really frustrating is that we have taken this 7 AM non stop flight 1315 to Orlando for years. Not only did they change the time by 2 hours, but it is the only morning non stop. So just about all other flights, which have connections, arrive later than this one.
We see 12:13 as arrival time, not 12:45. It helps some.
We are disappointed that we will most likely not be in Epcot until 2 - 3 PM now. I am disappointed, but I did not find any thing better for us.

I know that your dates aren't flexible but so they have another flight that day (earlier)? They should change you to an earlier flight without a fee if they do.

AK is actually a better morning park with the animals being more active. Maybe consider Epcot or HS for an afternoon. I personally would do Epcot and see about getting some FP+ reservations.

Sounds like your time is more condensed so this may not be an option, but just going to downtown Disney on arrival day is fun too.

Sorry for your frustration. I had this happen to me once a while ago when AirTran was still AirTran and not part of Southwest.

Good Luck:yay::yay:

Not to the extent that Delta does it. I've had flights moved by other airlines by 15-30 minutes. I've had flights moved by Delta of over 2 hours.

American Airlines did this to me. Lose a day of my trip.
Works out for the better as I fly on to the Bahamas after.
But they've done it with a few of my flight for when I'm in America.

I'm sorry that happened, sounds like it really messed up your plans :( I guess I have been lucky, because since booking in January for our October trip, I have gotten 3 emails from Orbitz saying my flight has been changed, but it has only been 3-7 minutes earlier or later.

Our American flights do something like this every trip. It's a pain to have to change plans and re-reserve seats that are together on the new flight. Sounds like you already had the "best" flight available, but sometimes we've gotten a change to a more desirable route for free (I.e. We book a reasonable flight choice for our points/$$, American changes us to something awful, we can now rebook for free onto a flight with a better connection that was previously too expensive for us). It takes a lot of watching, rearranging, and sometimes phone time - for which they charge me for the privilege of speaking to a person!

We covered AK in an afternoon in June. Scheduled FPs for the headliners and just went with the flow on the rest. A big rain shower helped clear the park some in the late day. We were in FOLK during the storm, so it really worked out great for us. EE was down for a little while during our FP window, but when it came back up we were able to get right on.

it sucks that we are at the mercy of the airlines....not going to let it mess up my arrival day, will just rearrange to do a different park on arrival day and do AK as a morning park, thanks everyone.

Seems like a lot of people leave AK early. We decided to do a few hours in the afternoon once and lines were pretty non-existant. If you keep to your plan, and you don't want to do everything, you might be OK. Sorry that happened. (I'd also do what was suggested and see if there is an early flight and change to that...since they changed our flight to more than 2 hours from your original time, I think they are supposed to do it for free).

This totally stinks and I would be as upset as you are!! If there is absolutely nothing you can do about your schedule (day before or earlier flight) Then just let it be...don't let this one thing ruin your vacation before it even starts. Just keep saying I'm going to Disney....Hope you have a fabulous vacation!!

Newbie to air travel here..... What are legacy carriers? Does Southwest do it? Like the OP we r scheduled to land in Orlando at about 10am. Hope we don't get changed!

Legacy carriers are the original airlines - American, United, Delta, USAirways. They all release their schedules about 11 months in advance day by day. They do frequent schedule adjustments.

Southwest is different, they release their schedules in blocks, usually closer to the travel date. Southwest typically does not change schedules but there is a post right now on the transportation board where they did and messed someone up.
