Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has booked at the Flight Centres expos in the past?

I got a quote (over the phone) today for $1600 return to NY, April next year with Virgin. He tried to add the Orlando leg in but could not get the same price. So I will add a NY-Orlando return domestic ticket.

I have an appointment tomorrow with the agent to review the offer.

ToyStory - I was hoping to book a cheap flight to the US this time last year and went to the FC expo. I got quoted around $1600 as well. I had a figure of about $1300 in mind as this was the trip that DH was going for a work conference at CSR. I didn't have to go....and we had decided that if I could get a flight to MCO for $1300, then I would tag along. And the flight wasn't direct...I was flying from Melbourne to Brisbane to LAX to CHICAGO and then to MCO.

I waited. And ended up with a United flight for $1350 AFTER the FC expo....MEL to SYD-LAX to MCO.

Thing is....that was last year. I don't know if the same is going to happen this year.

Thanks Princess in Oz, I will check what the flight schedule is; the agent also suggested more fares may be released tomorrow, as the Sydney expo is on tomorrow :confused3

Just a quick thought, airfares seemed a lot cheaper last year. I'm not sure why. At the end of June last year I could get an airfare to LA for December for $1000, same time this year $1600? :confused3

Maybe more people taking advantage of the great USD rate?
Airlines cashing in...

I'll be in Darling Harbour tomorrow so we were going to get some prices. Will update tomorrow.

1 Aug - 9 Dec 2011 and 17 Jan - 16 Jun 2012 and 18 Jul - 31 Jul

Must book by 3rd August at Flight Centre.

W booked - $1587, V Australia April 2012 (internal flights on Delta.
Flying Sydney - NY than Orlando - Sydney

We have 12 hours in LA on the way home, the TA suggested we jump on a Flyaway bus and head into Hollywood for a few hours.

Just have to book our NY - Orlando flight, find accommodation in NY and work out on/off property for a Universal/WDW trip.

I may start a new planning thread..... (and update my signature)

We are in Canberra, so did not actually go to the expo, just into one f the agencies - I was trying to look at the flyers in his folder and LA return may have been $1270 (I was trying to read upside-down :confused3 )

When was that?

I'm trying to decided whether to book for April (being school holidays) and then just telling my work i'm going, so approve my leave or not....

I paid around $2000 in 2001 for LA return LOL so anything less is pretty good, although 2009 we got $950 return with V-Aust, I don't think i'll see anything like that again...

I've been checking out fares for Sept. holidays for quite awhile and they have been very expensive. Hawaii is absurd!!
So that I can get an idea if fares are reasonable for when we would like to travel, what are the actual dates that you have booked?:)

I would be happy with that fare. We flew V Aus last Aug to LAX and it was about $1600 return. We very much enjoyed flying with V AUS. Our prefered airline.

The difference is almost entirely the fuel surcharge increase.
