Flight booking time

So, I looked at flights London (G, H or L, not fussed) to MCO a few weeks back and was finding direct Virgin/BA for £480ish. The flights have since gone up.

From experience, has anyone found the flights for this time go up then drop again in say Sept or October?
Flying 6th Dec-21st Dec.

In my experience, unless there is a sale, prices are at their lowest 6 to 8 months out, then they keep going up.

If you're travelling solo, you *might* find a cheap seat a couple of months out (not guaranteed)
If you're a family of 4 I wouldn't dream about it.

I think the chances of direct flights going much lower than that for any dates are very slim. If I saw them for that price direct with VA I'd buy immediately.
