Our flight arrives in Orlando at about 2:30. We're doing the Magical Express from the airport. I'm wondering whether we dare make a reservation for the Wishes Dessert Party that evening? Any opinions?

It all depends on your ME experience. Sometimes we have waited on the bus for over 30 minutes to leave, and then drop off at several hotels before we got to ours. I would estimate and leave my self at least 2 hours. It could be much quicker than that but you are at the mercy of the ME and you never know. This year we did a town car, we just didn't feel like waiting for the bus. We loved the town car, we got off the plane at 5 pm and we had our luggage and we were in the car by 5:16pm !!!!

Honestly I dont see why not, last year it was after 3 before we are able to get our hotel room and we had no problem making a 6 pm reservation for dinner on our arrival night.the magic express should really at the max take no more than 2 hrs from the time you get off the plane and even that would be a stretch well unless you had my mother with you then yeah 2 hrs minimum:rotfl2:.

I would not make any reservation on arrival night if that reservation had a cancellation penalty. For the Wishes Dessert Party, you pay in advance. If you miss the reservation, you are out that money.

While you certainly "should" have plenty of time to get there, you cannot make sure you will. Last year, for instance, our flight was 4 hours late getting to Orlando because we had an equipment problem in Chicago and had to wait for the plane to be repaired. We never dreamed we'd be arriving at the Poly at 7:30 p.m. instead of about 3:00 like we'd planned. There was absolutely nothing we could do about it.

Instead, I'd book that dessert party for a night when you'll already be in town and then you won't have to worry about an unforeseen problem.

For our last trip with landing, baggage claim, and picking up our rental car took about 2 hours to get to the park. I think you could get this down to 1.5 hours but I would not want to risk ruining reservations because of an unforseen travel delay.

I agree.. chances are you will be tired from the travelling. If you HAD to do it, then do it like 7-.. to allow yoruself to freshen up

Again, as the WISHES party starts at 8pm, you should be fine...but you also might not want to be out that late...eating sugar...after traveling all day. Especially if you are traveling with little ones. We made a dinner ADR for our arrival date this year but its not a prepaid one so if we don't make it...we are not out any money.

The fastest I've gone from the airport to the Magic Kingdom has been 2 hours, both times on a Friday, arriving at MCO at about 9:00 a.m. No difference in the check-in between the GF and Pop (both very quick), strangely enough. Although I might have made it to the MK more quickly from the GF if I hadn't been standing around gawking at what a lovely hotel it is.
