It sounds a bit crazy. I live in NC. The best rate my guide quoted me before Oct 3 was $112 - 5= $107 pp. If you were at the Doorway to Dreams store in Roosevelt Mall in NY then you could get 100 points for $100 pp. I found a round trip price $189 going to NY. I flew there, and got the rate of $100 per point. The end result was that I saved $500, but it basically took my entire Saturday flying back and forth. This is a trip I won't ever forget, but no regrets.

Congratulations and :welcome: home!

DVC should put you in their advertising. That's one you'll be able to tell everyone for the next 50 years of ownership.

Wow.....now I feel stupid for not wanting to take a train from New Jersey.....

Congratulations on a successful trip and your BLT ownership!:cheer2:

I am a sucker for a bargain... I wouldve done the same thing.

Some things I have done to save money on a Disney trip...

I have flown into Tampa once. Was scheduled to fly into Jacksonville once (that flight got cancelled and the airline flew me to Orlando instead).

I have flown out of Baltimore (I live near NYC) to go down during Presidents Week (I saved $1600 on that one).

I have had one person in my party get APs so we could get room discounts and TIW discount.

I have one set of no expire 10 day hoppers and no expire 10 day non hoppers and only use the hoppers on hop days.

I get discounted tickets from my job.

I have military in my family and have stayed a Shades of Green and gotten military doscount tix - including this years Military Salute.

I have so many 1 day passes (because all the discounts of late require them) I dont know when I will make it thru them.

Now I am stalking for the right DVC resale at SSR... stay tuned.

Wow, it proves you are truly a DVC'er with a severe case of addonitis. Not only do we like to add on but we love getting a great price...good for you!!!

Congratulations to you!!!!:dance3::dance3:

Love the non hopper and hopper idea. I did something similiar this past Jan. We had the special military park passes and I had some old hoppers so we did just that. We used the hopper on the hopping days and the military on the days we knew we would not hop.

:dance3:Congratulations !!!:dance3:

So....how many pts did you get??

The $500. is your "actual" savings...after deducting the airfare, guessing taxi ( not cheap to & from) probably JFK, misc stuff..food (out vs home)???....:rolleyes1

....And it was a nice day's outing too!!:goodvibes

You may already know this, but if they extend the military offer for 2010 -- you can use a 1-day base ticket towards the purchase of the Armed Forces Salute ticket. You'll have to buy it from Disney vs SOG (or a military base), so you'd have to pay sales tax...but I think it's a great way to get rid of some old tickets.

While I did not know of the extension into 2010... I did know I could use the 1-day tix as credit towards the military tickets!

Now I have to make my 2010 plans! Yee Haw!

OP:

OMG- I bumped into you on my way out and you were on your way in!! It was about 2:30 pm. I had a little girl with me and congratulated you (twice) cause your guide was telling my guide that you flew in from NC to add on a 100 pts. Had to be you. Too coincidental otherwise. I just stumbled into Doorway of Dreams and had no idea it was the last day of the big incentives for the grand opening! I had been DVC dreaming for years since touring SS in '05. I seriously think it was fate that I went to the mall Saturday. I couldn't even remember why I was there once I walked in. Just saw the Doorway to Dreams sign and made a beeline up there to see the models. I couldn't sign on that day without my hubby, but....

I went back yesterday and bought BLT too!! $96 per point plus matched '09 points. :woohoo:

Yay for us!

It is a small world after all.

Maybe I'll bump into ya at BLT one day too!

Was the $100 price only this past Saturday? I live in the area and had been thinking about BLT, but didn't know about this offer.

YES! I remember you. You must have purchased a bunch to get the $96 per point. Smart move to go with BLT. I hope you broke the package up into smaller portions incase you decide to sell some in the future. For my 100 points I broke it up into 65 and 35 contracts. That makes it more valuable on the resale market.

PS: What did you mean by matched '09 points. I am getting points in 2009, but nothing more than that.

The offer was valid until Oct 3. I read about it on another thread. The deals which are not valid now were for showing up at the Doorway to Dreams store on Long Island. You could not get this by phone.

BLT
160-199 pts = $100 per point
200-269 pts = $98 per point
270+ = $96 per point

Wow. That is first I have heard of that one. Congrats and nice job saving some money.

Enjoy the points.

oops, the chart I posted earlier was for new members. For existing member I think (from memory) it was

BLT add-on
100-124 $100 pp
125- something was $99 pp
200+ $96 pp

It is always worth a call to see if the offer was extended. I had to track down a guide that worked in that store his name is Rob. See the info below. I also know that they are OFFICIALLY having their grand opening at the store on October 17. Not sure what those incentives would be.

Disney Doorway to dreams in NJ.
