Flat Iron: Farouk Chi or Solia?

Hey all...

I know there was a thread on here awhile ago about flat irons. I use one and have been told that a GOOD quality flat iron does make a difference. I've been researching and am torn between a Farouk Chi and a Solia. The reviews for both are fantastic, but I've noticed several of the Solia users saying that they used to have a Chi and then went to the Solia....

Comments from those who have either one? (please?)

I don't know anything about Solia. But my stylist has been wanting me to get a Chi for the longest time. Now, all-of-a-sudden she says there are new titanium (as opposed to ceramic) flat irons and she wants me to get one of those. I'll get one eventually because I know I need it; they're just so expensive and I just bought a lot of makeup. And I also need a new expensive hairdryer. :rolleyes1

I've actually never heard of the Solia but I've had a Chi iron for almost 2 years now and LOVE it. I have an old perm in my hair that everyone thought was just naturally curly hair and the Chi can make my hair stick straight. My hair feels so soft after I use it, too, and it is very coarse hair.

Hmmm, maybe I also need to add Sedu to the list....that is rated as the top flat iron and has the tourmaline [sp] ceramic plates. Sigh....

For the Chi owners, have you had any problems with the cord? The few bad reviews I saw complained about that. However, most reviews were glowing. (as for the Sedu and Solia too...)

Too many choices!!!! :(

Oh oh oh...I just received my Chi because of the previous thread. I love that thing. I decided to go with the 1" and it is so easy to use and it glides like buttah! :thumbsup2

From what I have heard about the cord problem is that is comes from people winding the cord around the iron when they are storing it. Mine stays out on the vanity counter so I haven't had a problem with that (knock on wood!). I just make sure not to wind the cord whenever we are traveling.

I've only had a Chi, so I don't know what the differences are except that I was told over and over again to get the Chi! So far, so good! I love how it makes frizzies disappear and makes my hair nice and sleek looking. It was well worth the price. I have the 1".

I have a Chi Turbo and I love it!! I've used it for three years and had no problems. Like camreesmom said, cord problems come from wrapping the cord around the iron when you store it, so don't wrap and you'll have no problems.

Well, I just got a Chi on eBay from a reputable seller. (got a GOOD deal thanks to AuctionSniper!!!) I got the pink 1" Chi. I was leaning towards the Sedu 1", but the deal I got on eBay was too good.

I'll let you know how I like it! I'd already ordered some of the Chi Infusion.
