Flash mob in DTD on 1/23

I'm the only person in the world who is not on facebook, so I don't know what that page is. It won't let me look at it. What is it about? :confused3

LOL sorry about that!

Here is what it says:

UPDATE AS OF 1/14/2010:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We moved the event back to start at 3pm. Meaning you MUST be at the meeting spot by 3pm SHARP.

Everyone will be split into several smaller groups, headed by group leaders. Each leader will explain to their group the specifics that are going down. Each leader will take you to their designated freezing location in downtown disney. We want everyone to be scattered, but together to give it a good effect. We will have it start at the ESPN Zone, and depending on the amount of people that show up, we will continue all the way through Downtown Disney, all the way to the entrance of the park.

Everyone MUST be in Downtown Disney, at their location by 3:45PM. The Freeze will Commence at 4pm EXACTLY, and will end at 4:05pm. That's five minutes of being frozen. Each Leader will have a colored balloon and will release it at 4pm. We suggest that you set your cellphone alarm to go off at 4pm and again at 4:05. Also, if you see other people start to freeze, then you should freeze also (given its time).

We want this to look as if time actually froze for us, so all poses should be natural, something you would be doing at downtown Disney. Below is a list of poses we though would be interesting. It sounds silly, but we suggest that you practice your pose at home with a friend to see how well you can stand like that for 5 minutes.

Also, make sure that you can come out of your pose naturally, as if time has been started again. So if your pose is you sneezing, then you should finish our your sneeze when "time continues".

If people come up to you and starts messing with you, try to ignore them if you can. If urgent, act as if time is up and just continue on your way naturally, ignoring the people all together. Also, if you think you are going to pass out or something (some other emergency) then just walk it out naturally, not killing the over all effect. If you see only one person move before time is up, please dont follow after them and start walking, the rest of the freezers will get the wrong idea.

After the freeze is over, there will be no official debrief session. It would ruin the effect if we all started walking, and formed a group. We will be posting photos/videos online (Please read disclaimer at the bottom).

============================
GOOD POSES:
---------------------------------------------------------
- Photo-op, take a picture of your friend or family while the freeze
- Dancing to the music
- Falling
- Talking on cellphone or texting
- pushing or pulling something
- hugging/kissing someone
- eating food
- dropping food and picking it up (popcorn is good)
- Walking up stairs (may not work, monorail maybe)

Please make sure your pose is appropriate, we wouldnt want to get in trouble and get bad rep.

Have a good facial expression as well.

dress naturally, if you have something to outrageous, then you will get kicked out by Disney. No costumes, no matching, act as if you are going to disneyland. Also, nothing violent please.

Inspired by Improv Everywhere based in NY, the OC division of Urban Prankster Network is organizing 'Freeze at Downtown Disney'. If you're unfamiliar with this phenomena, please watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo

The only requirements: able to stand/be still for about 4 minutes, keep a straight face, and cooperate. We need as many people as we can get so invite anyone seriously interested, it will be a lot of fun. The exact details are being worked out, we will make sure everyone gets them by Tuesday the 19th.

~~We aren't looking for silly unrealistic poses, this has to look as though time has actually frozen.~~

UPDATE: If you're interested in filming, ushering, or helping out in anyway please private message either Christopher, Cinthia, or Dylan. ***If it's ideas for a different event, we are planning on creating an IE style group in OC, if this is successful (which it will be) we will invite everyone and continue to have fun.***

And I thought I was the only person in the world not on Facebook...:rotfl:

This sounds really cool. I've seen some YouTube videos of people doing this, but I didn't know that's what it was called. Wish I could be there!

:lmao:I had visions of a mob of people actually flashing :rotfl2: or worse flashing their cameras all at the same time!

I just did a YouTube search and saw a clip of the one they did at Grand Central Station - it actually looks really neat.

Also check out the train station dance in Belgium - sound of music - it's cool

They have a bunch of different things they've done on You Tube. One was that half the group called the other half at the exact same time. One was in a mall food court where they started singing, but were dressed as shopper, custodian, security, etc.

Looks like fun thing to do.

I don't understand whats the point of this. They should do it to raise awareness for a certain cause, like breast cancer or something important. They should make it a big deal and get corporate sponsorship involved and raise money for maybe the CHOC.

go to you tube and search Oprah Black Eyed Peas, they do a flash dance thing there. It's really really neat!! I would LOVE to do that, but I won't be there then. :) How fun tho!!

LOL I just watched video and looked at pictures of "No Pants Day" which happened recently in many cities around the world. In New York they all rode the subway with no pants. The looks on the public's faces was priceless.

I will be at the park on the 23rd. I haven't decided if I will check out the mob thing or not yet. It will be our first trip to DL and I am not sure I will be able to tear myself away from the fun to go see it. On the other hand I keep thinking about the fact that the chances of my every seeing something like that again are pretty slim.

By the title of the thread, my first thought was, "A giant group of people are going to go on PotC and take a flash photo at the exact same time!" :rotfl: Then I saw "DtD."

I have LOVED the Belgium train station deal since the first time I saw it. It's one of my favorite youtube videos.

On the FB page, they have over 1,000 people signed up. One of the comments posted made me laugh: "If everyone shows up, where will everyone park?" Something to keep in mind if you plan on visiting DLR on the 23rd. :car:

- Dreams

ETA: Interesting.... Based on their FB pages, the 3 organizers are all high school students. I don't think (although I don't know) that they are the same group that set up the Oprah dance or the Belguim dance.

Did anyone else notice it was on the 23rd? As in D23? Coincidence? I don't think so.

Thanks for copying the post so I could see it. How odd, I've never heard of that. If someone is there then they will have to post pics. I wonder how crowded it will be.

Ok, so three of are not on facebook. :rotfl: I really thought I was the last one!

I've watched several Improv Everywhere videos on YouTube before & they're always entertaining! Hopefully this one is posted too...:woohoo:
