I booked back in march for sequoia lodge in November and then upgraded to hotel New York when they had a sale a couple of months ago. Had no problems at all. Saying that I did pay an extra £60. It does say in the booking terms that if you want to change your booking to a cheaper one then you are in effect cancelling and starting again so you would lose your 10% deposit. It doesn't cost anything extra to upgrade.

I tried to upgrade, but was told that wasn't possible aswell
